Bounce TV To Air Whitney Houston Funeral Saturday

I'm now seeing reports that "US networks" (read: plural) are planning to air the funeral, though there's no confirmation of any broadcast outlets, other than Bounce TV.

You would think that E! would carry it, but on their own website, they're informing readers/viewers to watch a "live stream" of the event, i.e. on the Internet, and not on television.

Part of this may be due to the fact that it's a private ceremony - as opposed to a star-studded event at the Staples Center.

We get them here in Hartford/New Haven via WTNH-TV 8-2 from New Haven. Their programming isn't what appeals to me, so I don't watch them. However, I do think it's cool that they're willing to take this chance and televise the service.

According to this article, and my program guide, both CNN and Fox News will be airing the funeral as well.

It actually looks like some local stations throughout the nation will be airing it as well, such as WHDH Boston, and I would assume some of the NYC stations.

Bounce-TV was not alone; Several other cable channels went wall-to-wall covering Whitney's funeral today, Like fellow channels that targets African-Americans TVOne & B.E.T.; and CNN and E! were also on hand as well. The Houston Family wants to keep it low profile and very intimate, as the funeral was a by-invitation only service, meaning there was only one camera allowed into the sanctuary.

I was very shocked when Fox News aired the funeral. Local here in Los Angeles it was on KABC 7. KCAL 9 just started a Saturday morning news slot but only aired it for 2 hours.

let her Rip! much too much has been made of this. i wonder can we expect wall to wall coverage of the passing of one of gladys knight's "Pips" someday?

CNN and MSNBC, along with the BET networks also televised the funeral.
CNN and HLN carried the entire three plus hour event.
Costner's remarks were quite moving.

Yesterday's coverage went on for four hours, instead of two. Celebrities attending were Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Winans, Jordan Sparks, Tyler Perry, Dionne Warwicke, Kevin Costner, Jennifer Hudson, & Whitney's Boss over at Her label, Arista Records founder Clive Davis. Aretha was supposed to perform at Whitney's Funeral yesterday-she was a no-show, and she had to call in sick, but she had to commit to her current 50th anniversary concert tour over at New York's Radio City Music Hall across the bridge over there in Manhattan; Aretha dedicated her concert last night to Whitney as far as making things right.
