Brand new AM 50kw Daytime blast furnace seeks DX Reports

The best time to receive this station is an hour or so after sunrise when the ionosphere is still
charged.

This morning I heard WHO and WISN loud and clear. I have never heard WISN here before. After
sunrise is really a good time to hear AM signals from the west.

It was easy to null out Cleveland and hear this blaster from the Fargo market station on 1100. I am between
Louisville and Indianapolis.

Thank you!!! we just got not one but 2 that's TWO DX e-mails from Sweden. The transmitter logger showed at the time we were at our night time power a DIRECTIONAL (to the NE) 440 watts right around 4:48am cdt on Aug 25, 2008.

To throw 440 watts out 4,000+ statute miles (as the crow flies) to us is a major accomplishment.

And a compliment to our Contracting Engineers. A total of 12 minutes was received.

it's 1 hour to the best of my knowledge... 1 before sunset/1 hr. after sunrise. then we kick the 50 gerbils in.
Our phasor will not allow us to go more than 400w during night or 9.7kw in the critical pattern although we are licensed for 22kw critical.

This week we have been having issues with night time power.. as the fleas have been a bit tired lately at 100w when they are usually buzzing around at 400w.

Last night I heard the pattern change from critical to night and it was brutal.

:EDIT: Our critical hours begin at sunrise (9.2 KW) for 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset.

Im in Indiana and have a pretty good Old DX Am tuner,,, so i will try, but I normally get cleveland booming in at night on 1100, and often during the day I get it rather weakly.. I have received 850 KOA Denver here in Indiana around 10:30 AM,, so Ill try to null out cleveland and see if i can hear you, but im guessing probably not.. I have friends in Minnesota though, and I can have them check for you........(COOL).........

Clubber, You won't have to travel to MN to hear this one. You might have to take your radio outside the house to get
away from all the RF noise. Null out Cleveland and this one is number two in strength. It's talk but not the same program
as Cleveland. In Indiana, you will also hear Atlanta and Nashville TN area stations on 1100 KC after sunrise.

Amazing,, Ive never DXed Europe AM except on the coast with an analog radio, back in the 80s on Outer Banks NC I used to get a station from spain on like 1031 or something like that,,, my memory may not be accurate on the exact frequency, been hit in the head too many times since then....Im being serious....... :-\

To hear Europe on AM in Indiana, takes a 200 foot longwire, a good ground and a very selective receiver. You find these stations
between the US channels.

In the 1970s Jack Widner was able to get the BBC on 648 KC, Radio Caroline, and Radio Luxenberg on AM in Indianapolis.

A station from Africa was just above 1400. In 1978 Panasonic made a receiver that I used to hear Europe here and received
WOWO in Braintree England in 1980.

But if you don't have a selective radio, the foreign stations will only be heard as a squeal.

The best time to DX Europe on AM is right after sunset here, or right before sunrise there.

I don't have the FCC table here but the us naval observatory has us at:
Sunrise Nov: 7:30 Dec.: 8:00 Sunset Nov 5:00pm Dec 4:30 (all times are in CST)
