BREAKING NEWS: CBS radio, MSNBC to suspend Imus 2 weeks

If it is so hysterical, then why did Imus go to Sharpton to get "cleansed" of his sins to the black community? IMUS is the one who has made ALL THE WRONG MOVES. There is no way to deflect this off of Imus. FIRE HIM.
[/quote]

He went on to directly address his mistake. He owned up to making a comment that, by his own admission, went too far. He tried to explain himself. He also asked why it was acceptable for black men to refer to black women as hos, but the Reverend Al decided not to answer that.

What Imus said was wrong. It was a stupid comment made in the midst of a diatribe that was meant to be funny. It wasn't. But it also wasn't made with malice or hate. Unlike most of the reverend Al's past comments about Jews or Whites.

black rap artists offend black and white women, do the record labels stop that??Hell no.here's what will happen Imus will make a contribution to Rutgers and it will all just go away like magic.Follow the money.Black comedians offend people of all races, do they fire them ..Hey if all Sharpton has to do is harp on this everday, well by God civil rights in America is better than we thought..Mostb 1, you're a idiot not Imus.Sharpton and Jackson are 2 of the biggest race bigots in america.Let them enjoy their brief fame, then Jessie can continue cheating on his wife, while claiming to be a man of God.Hey they'll be alot of preachers in Hell..

Don't think you are alone. Boston has its own racist pig, named Jay Severin, who attacks our new Governor, Deval Patrick, because he is an African - American.

By the way, Governor Patrick is a graduate of Milton Academy, Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He is a bright and articulate individual but Jay Severin hates the Governor's politics. Governor Patrick is a Democrat and Severin is a libertarian Republicrat. So, Severin [ Ne. Severino] goes to race to attack Deval Patrick.

Sad but true that Greater Media which owns the station he is on, WTKK-FM 96.9 will do nothing.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

Imus has a NATIONAL platform. And top politicians, journalists and newsmakers routinely go to his show. He has a higher ethical standard that he must practice (than say a Stern type show)

At LEAST Stern thinks before he says something

You are in the clouds. You obviously need racial sensitivity training, too. Imus is the bigot. Easy to see he is Archie Bunker from yesterdays Shapton show. Don't try to make two wrongs a right. IMUS IS WRONG and MUST BE FIRED. And he will be. You have totally underestimated this story. MARK MY WORDS.

[EDIT]Imus will be fine and really loves the press and ratings this is generating. He is a sly old fox.He should move to XM and little twits like you can mind
YOFB...

Don Imus is an entertainer. His "comments" consisted of three misplaced, unfortunate words, during a 10 minute sports segment. They were not delivered in the context of hate speech (if he had called the ballplayers an embarrassment to black women, and unworthy of being called women, then it would have been hate speech).

It was DAMN JOKE THAT WAS UNFUNNY.

Before you judge anyone based on a two second comment, look at the past. This man has raised millions for veterans causes. He has helped hundreds of kids with cancer. And do you know why his suspension begins on Monday rather than immediately? Can you answer that question?

Please do. Tell us how much you know about this story by telling us why the suspension was delayed.

BULLETIN IMUS WILL MEET WITH RUTGER PLAYERS LIVE ON TV

GET READY FOR THE PARTY.Get those chicken wings and beer and stand by.Rev al,get your hair spiked ,jessie leave that married womans home, and watch the ratings soar..Imus is the man...Done more good for more people, especialy veterans than any one i know..and mostb 1 ask your mommy if it's ok for you to watch..

Most of us know why the suspension won't take effect until Monday.

The "haters" won't admit to it. They won't admit that, despite his stupid comments of last Wednesday, one would be hard-pressed to name someone in radio who has raised more money than Imus for numerous charities.

They're just "haters" who grab onto a "cause" and run with it just for the sake of bashing someone. They'd probably cower in front of Imus and kiss his posterior if the opportunity presented itself.

Boston Randy,VERY WELL SAID...You are 100 per cent correct.it's good to see we have a couple of folks are this NY borad that can see right thru this BS.Kudo's to you

MY COMMENTS SINCE THE ABOVE ARE NOT:

NBC and CBS could easily cover every PENNY and more it would take to donate to his charity AND TAKE HIM OFF THE AIR TODAY.

He should be off the air NOW.

Very sad seeing someone trying to spin that his charity has anything to do with keeping him on the air after what he has done.

His comment was part of a string of RACIAL slurs over time. Here is a partial list http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=3082

Imus show is full of HATE SPEECH. And it is foolish to try and "spin" it any other way with the FACTS of his current and past demeaning remarks against minorites and women in black and white. He must go. FIRE HIM NOW.

More dumb reasoning.

NBC and CBS should ante up ALL the money expected to be raised for his charity and SILENCE this bigot from their airwaves once and for all NOW.

Closed circuit for New York and the Hudson Valley.

Does WOFX (980 AM) in Albany, NY used to carry Don Imus' show? No, they don't carried Imus' show on WOFX in Albany. The show was replaced by a morning show which is also being carried on Fox Sports Radio which is not going to happen in New York City. Fox Sports Radio is not gonna happen in New York. Listen to WCKY 1530 which is "1530 Homer: The Sports Animal" in Cincinnati OH, to hear Fox Sports Radio at night on your DX where you can hear it on AM from 600 miles away from New York City.

I would bet money they will raise more money than ever before by the end of this week.

The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are hypocritical opportunists that don't know when to shut up. They could take any situation and make it racist against blacks when they don't even see their own double standard.

Imus will be back and better than ever before. He sincerely apologized to the girls at Rutgers (whose big claim to fame is winning a game that no one cares about). Accept his apology and move on. He came on Al Sharpton's show and took two hours of abuse. Sharpton won't even appear on his show... Imus is ten times the man that Sharpton is. (Sharpton thinks HE is going to bring an audience to Imus' show? More people turn the TV when they see he and Jesse Jackson spewing their anti-white hatred than would ever tune in to watch it...)

My guess is that Imus is here to stay. There is too much money at stake... And people like you will just have to forgive and get over it.

There is no more foregiveness for someone who has promised to stop doing racist remarks on previous occasions. Imus is a LIAR. HE MUST BE FIRED NOW.

Obviously, the one who can't shut up is Imus. The worst continuing foot-in-mouth disease I've ever seen.

GET YOUR FACTS IN ORDER. He has NOT apologized to the WOMEN of Rutgers (and they said so NOT you). And his on-air apology is only "sincere" in the fact that he is sorry he got caught being a racist NOT that he is sorry for what he has been doing for way too long - demeaning women and minorities.

As for his comeback, he's going to be watched like a HAWK IF he is allowed to comeback to CBS Radio and MSNBC (which I doubt). Regardless, it will change his show FOREVER. He won't be able to be himself, the racist bigot that he is, EVER AGAIN.

Al Sharpton is a "Poverty Pimp", he fuels racism in Black Americans, and he hopes White Americans will fear him. Was Mr. Imus wrong in his comments, yes he was. Who appointed Rev. Sharpton the Speaker of the Black Community???

I know that several African Americans called NBC to say that Rev. Sharpton DOES NOT speak for them.
I cannot believe MSNBC is not backing Mr. Imus, they are "P-Whipped", so they lost some advertisers (Boo Hoo!) for them. Get a backbone, support your employees.

Fox News would never put up with this crap. I guess this is why MSNBC is the lowest rated cable station.

Stuart
Chapel Hill, North Carolina Listener to Imus from 1978 til present!!!!

When it comes right down to it, this is all about GREEN no matter what the President of NBC News said. Keith Olbermann said on his show tonight he was also calling for Imus ouster along with many other NBC Universal employees.

Sharpton may not speak for every African-American BUT Imus went to him. So Imus, in effect, annointed him as the most influental black leader who could get him out of his mess. That's his fault.

Fox News would never employ a foul-mouthed racist such as Imus. They're stuck with another racist, Geraldo.

It is amazing the double standard people like you and Al Sharpton put other races to...

If there was White Entertainment Television, or the White Congressional Caucus, Sharpton would be screaming discrimination and white supremacy before you could blink an eye... He can take anything that is said regarding race and twist it into another example of "the white man keeping him down..."

As I mentioned before, Imus is ten times the man Sharpton is. You look at the poll taken today by some of the New York television stations and 80% of the respondents say that no punishment was needed. And yes, Imus did apologize... go look at the clips. America is sick of people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson...

Imus is dead. His body was rolled out into the street today after he died at work. Would someone please call the garbage collector and haul away his rotting corpse? It stinks and it's lowering property values.
