. NBC Statement:The suspension is effective for the radio broadcast as well:
"Due to the events of the past week, CBS Radio will suspend Don Imus and the broadcast of his show for a period of two weeks, effective Monday, April 16," CBS announced tonight. "The program will continue to broadcast this week due to WFAN's previously scheduled on-air charity fundraiser on Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13."
The statements are from: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/"Beginning Monday, April 16, MSNBC will suspend simulcasting the syndicated "Imus in the Morning" radio program for two weeks. This comes after careful consideration in the days since his racist, abhorrent comments were made. Don Imus has expressed profound regret and embarrassment and has made a commitment to listen to all of those who have raised legitimate expressions of outrage. In addition, his dedication - in his words - to change the discourse on his program moving forward, has confirmed for us that this action is appropriate. Our future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word.
The previously scheduled Imus radiothon in support of the Tomorrow's Children's Fund, the CJ Foundation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research and the Imus Ranch will air, as scheduled, this Thursday and Friday on MSNBC."

You comments show great ignorance. Two wrongs make a right? That's what you're saying. You need to learn about what racism is. Also, watch the interview with the Rutgers basketball coach. Imus GREATLY upset her and the team. Imus has a PATTERN of racist, hateful comments against minorities and women. CBS and GE need to stop profiting from it. Fire Imus NOW before their licenses are challenged and advertisers boycotted. And they will be.menotti1 said:great point.Sharpton and Jackson have both had their racial slurs.Hell people just walk around looking for anything that may offend them.the good ole boys at Fox are really on the attack against MSNBC.Imus was just being humurous when he made the remark,NEVER for a minute meant for it to offend anyone.Plus he will love the 2 weeks off.Might watch a few Rutgers ladies basketball games.
The REAL question is WHY did DON IMUS (and/or his people) feel that the Rev. Al Sharpton was the person to go to to save his career?Stuart Greenberg said:How come treasonist people like Rosie O'Donnell can continue to banter the airwaves with her anti-American rantings, and nothing is done? (Much talk about her, no real action).
I am not saying Imus was right. It was a little out of context, and probably wrong. America has heard a lot worse, and the sun still continues to shine.
It is individuals like Rev. Sharpton who just add fuel to the fire. I do not know who (and why) gave Mr. Sharpton the ability to speak for the entire race of African Americans in our Country.

Any licenses by either company are completely safe. There have been far worse things broadcast in recent times and nobody has had anything close to a successful challenge. That won't stop people from making noise, but that's all it is.
Advertiser boycotts? Maybe. I think most non-militants take this for what it is; a relatively minor mistake that has been blown a few dozen orders of magnitude out of proportion. He made a mistake, he apologized for it, he's getting punished for it (though I wonder if he was scheduled to be off for any of that time already), now it's time to move on.

Jesse Jackson, who once referred to New York as "Hymietown" is screaming over an off hand comment?
Al Sharpton, who fueled the Crown Heights riots by talking about the "diamond merchants" and "apartheid ambulances" in Brooklyn is calling someone racist?
Hey Reverend Al, how's Tawana Brawley these days?

By the way, Governor Patrick is a graduate of Milton Academy, Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He is a bright and articulate individual but Jay Severin hates the Governor's politics. Governor Patrick is a Democrat and Severin is a libertarian Republicrat. So, Severin [ Ne. Severino] goes to race to attack Deval Patrick.
Sad but true that Greater Media which owns the station he is on, WTKK-FM 96.9 will do nothing.
