Not being from Rochester, most of what I know about Wease is from itinerant listening and his ill-fated foray(s?) into Buffalo. I have to say that I'm surprised at how little response this topic has engendered from my Rochester brethren.

My two cents to this post is that I think Wease is an acquired taste who is very outspoken. I personally haven't listened to him in years and turn the station whenever I hear his voice. However, I do respect his longevity and it's always nice when a local personality gets honored. I guess he's not my cup of tea and possibly other "Rochester brethren" (that not all by any means) feel the same way.

I have a Wease story. When he started mornings at CMF, I was hosting mornings at one of his target competitors. Now and then all the morning jocks in town would be drawn together for a charity event. At our first meeting, Wease walked up to me and asked me how busy my request lines were. Well, you know how we like to intimidate our competitiors...I said all 4 lines were constantly ringing with great bits. Wease looked astonished, and said to me...."Hell, I get nothin'!" That's the way he is...without airs, true and honest. When I was canned 4 years later, Wease called me at home and not only offered condolences, but offered a guest co-host spot for me the next day!
Great guy...congrats Wease!

Punctuation can be your friend.

That a person with his talent can (reportedly) make more than half a million a year and have this honor bestowed upon him speaks volumes. Congratulations Wease.
