BRW: Bell & Lobel to Rush Radio 1200 Sundays

I wish they would put them on Saturday mornings. Even at their advanced ages they'd be better than what's on either of the two sports stations.

Just as an aside, I was grand prize winner of the "I stumped Upton" contest on their show in the 70s. Along with being a retired "Test the Teams" champion on Dave Maynard's show, it completed my 15 minutes of fame.

I used to joke: I wonder if Guy Mainella has a brother named Sal?
(Salmonella, get it? Similar to a joke made by funny folk band Modern Man; in a song called
"Eggs Like These" about a NJ law against runny eggs or something, they sang (tune of Born
to Run) "We're gonna meet the fellas down at Sam 'n' Ellas...but eggs like these, baby they
were born to run!")

What do you mean "get it"? That's third grade humor. Here's something more substantial, and I won't explain it:
I wonder if Mara Liasson has a sister name Kiri?

I know, the Get It? prob wasn't necessary and I did get it..
stop me before I get to "if Ella Fitzgerald married Allen Funt..." :)

Just wondering, but when were you on Test the Teams and on what team. Just curious, since I wrote the questions for TTT from '81 to 84.

Could they possibly be the new home for espn inthe future maybe talk by day sports at night. Depending on ratings.

ESPN with WEEI now but who knows...their main purpose it to have Katz then clear Beck, Rush, Hannity, and Coast to Coast--they could sacrifice Levin and Lewis, etc. Not uncommon for
Clear Channel to do ESPN but if so what would EEI run overnight, Sporting News? Reruns of
daytime shows? Or if their ratings really tank they could become Boston's ESPN affiliate full time
(Rush could go back to RKO?) but would their ratings be all that much better than cons. talk?

[/quote]March of 1982............I think. It was a while ago. We were from Nortech in Clinton. We retired undefeated after (I think) three weeks.

I remembered one of the questions just now. The question was about what the name "Massachusetts" meant in English. None of us knew, so in my best "Tonto" impersonation, I said "Ah, Kemo Sabe, it mean, we tax-um plenty". Dave said "Wrong, wampum head". That exchange would probably get him suspended today.

Taxachusetts, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
