Buffy the Vampire Slayer Coming to Logo and MTV in January 2010; Minor Nick at Nite Changes

If you all remember when we announced that Grounded for Life was coming to MTV, at the end I mentioned a teen drama was also coming to MTV soon...now it is time to announce that drama! The teen drama is... Buffy the Vampire Slayer! The classic 1997-2003 The WB series (and later UPN) starring Sarah Michelle Gellar will join the Viacom owned MTV and also sister network Logo in January 2010.

Yeah, but on MTV and Logo? As part of Viacom, their perception, along with TeenNick has been being well-known and hated for their absolute shredding and half-assed editing of any syndicated programming for children and teenagers (Degrassi being the best example of this, where Nanny Viacom thinks American kids can't take what Canadian children handle quite fine). Try to get an L Word fan to watch the show on Logo; they think it's completely pointless if it's been neutered of what they could show or say on Showtime.

Better off buying the DVD's and completely ignoring Buffy on MTV. And really, Grounded for Life airing in the morning on MTV now? What happened to actually showing music videos rather than 'Small Wonder'-level shows that only the die-hard fans would watch?

The reason for not showing music videos for which the network has been known for: $$$, royalties, and $$$.

And I realize you were using it as an example, but the day "Small Wonder" reruns actually air on a cable network, it is time to cancel the subscription.

And wouldn't you know it, it's actually coming to DVD in February. I apologize for somehow being a soothsayer of crappy television. Now we just need those Rags to Riches and The Preston Episodes box sets to come out and scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Also to add on, today MTV canceled their TRL replacement It's on with Alexa Chung, yet another MTV show that wasn't broken when it premiered, but 'fixed' to death by more focus grouping by the execs and having a host clearly not into the retooling introducing a new format (I see she loathes the awful pop and rap performances that have been shoehorned into her show). Expect MTV to be yet another Viacom network to be airing One on One next year (it's hyped to death on TeenNick).
