Bulletin...Bulletin The Real Story according to Ricky

So after putting out ads for new talent, and most recently adding the syndicated Rick & Bubba show, WTVY is "keeping" Amie, KC et al "from them from being on the air with another station," and the foursome "did not like the manner in which they were treated."

Great. A Brett Favre-type situation comes to radio!

That seems to be a very good assessment from what is in the press. Your Favre reference reminded me of the situation in the Movie "Live From Bagdad" where one of the reporters warns another to be careful and "not become the story".

You know, Tragic should really just cut'em loose. If it were my company, and I sucked this bad at running it, I would not even care about the ratings right now. I would just be trying to sell the thing for whatever meager amount of dollars I could get, and just get the hell out. In other words instead of worrying about saving face and making a pathetic attempt at ratings and profit, Magic should be focusing its efforts on trying to save their investors a** (at least the best they can) and get the hell out of the industry. And let someone else worry about reviving the company. It just makes good business sense, they are not able to cut it, they just don't have what it takes...they are essentially finished...they just need to face it.

From the Ricky Stokes article:***

"We have learned that WTVT FM 95.5 secretly advertised for positions replacing them on the morning show...."

Isn't this pretty much the standard practice in all industries? Which goes to prove that they got upset and had their feelings hurt and quit.

Once again from he Ricky Stokes article:***

“ I made an overture to the management of WTVY FM 95.5 to allow all parties the opportunity to move on. WTVT FM 95.5 obviously has replacing Pollard and KC, yet they want to keep my clients from working and doing the only job they know how to do.

What do really expect WTVY to do when their staff walks out? Turn off the transmitter? Run nothing but music and commercials? I'm sure in their lives they all have had other jobs than being jocks. So how is this the only thing they know how to do?

***Copied directly word for word, letter for letter from the article in discussion.***

Another Quote From Rickey:

"QUESTION

Should the listeners be held hostage and not able to change the radio dial to hear their morning show group of their choice or should the morning show group be prevented from going on the air by WTVY FM 95.5? "

It's not WTVY FM'S fault they all walked out that was thier decision. The job advertisement could have been a way to show Amie that she can be replaced.

For Ken,Mike,Elizabeth, and Sales People I just hope Amie hasn't sold you on something bad. Maybe you should have just stuck it out and let her walk alone.

It looks like to me that Amie is up to her usual by using Rickey for her own self glorification, I am thinking that she wrote the above quote as well as the original annocement that they walked .

Amy use to work at Sony plant in Dothan before becoming DJ. KC worked in Columbus Ga, on a tv station there in the 1970's as I think he told me once a sports reporter. Big Mike worked at K-Mart in Eufaula and Miss Liz all she has ever done was work in radio. When in high school she did remotes for the station and she drove the wtvy fm van. Once I asked Amy to help me with a benefit that I was doing for a lady who lost her husband to cancer and the woman was blind. Amy told me no that only people that WTVY FM helps was veterans and children. She was very rude to me that day. Now Miss Pollard lets see who helps you.

this all looks like a bad high school newspaper:
and...can you really pass the bar exam in AL without any grammar skills?

Attackpoodle is pointing to "The Real Story According to Ricky? You must be kidding. The same Ricky who has coined the phrase "...secretly advertised"? Amy's "pet monkey" Ricky who offered space for comments when the story broke, only to snatch the comments down when they turned negative?

The real story is, Amy had this deal on her "wish list" long before the "secret" ad. Ironically, she doesn't have a non compete, she was free to leave anytime. She could have left the others in their jobs until she had a paycheck to offer them. And yet, she hauled all the others into this just to make her own selfish statement.

At the very least, Amy should have discouraged KC and Big Mike from following her knee jerk rush to exit the building. KC and Big Mike are bound to non-competes at least until a judge says otherwise. Amy, on the other hand, is already working for The Radio People.

Obviously the ad was a lame attempt at intimidation. The PD sounds like a real low life jerk, usually that sort gets found out in due time. The local manager, however, is a reasonable man who would surely preferred compromise to catastrophe. I'll bet he wasn't even offered the chance.

Amy instigated this little soap opera and should be ashamed. She should have stood her ground or simply walked away. All the drama, all the distraction from the constructive business at hand. All for the sake of a cheap, juvenile publicity stunt.

The listeners they all claim to care so much about deserve better than this .

The message? These people take themselves far too seriously. We shouldn't.

Magic Broadcasting has got to be one of the most miss managed companies I have ever heard of. After reading all of these posts for the last week it is obvious that good people work for a "Tragic" company. That happens everyday, not just in this industry. BUT the bottom line is really why do we care so much. If the 4 jocks were not happy and walked out....let them go! I still hear the 95.5 signal, it's still on air, and they also still have 4 other stations on air. Maybe it could have been handled better, not so dramatic but that's how Amie works best and with a crowd behind her. As for the 3 sales people that left, again who cares, sales people come and go everyday...were they the only sales people they have on staff, I don't think so and can they be replaced absolutely....without a doubt. So let them go and pursue what ever it is they want to do, and STOP making such a big deal about it because that's exactly what they wanted to happen! Talk about FREE publicity...and congrats to WOOF because they are going to be the winners in all of this and by all rights they should.

Your #1 COUNTRY station by arbitron standards and popular vote standards loses 4 of their best DJ's, their #1 promotions manager, and several sales staff members: is this news worthy? YES! Pretty much everyone on here seems to be enjoying or having something to say about the whole issue so, if Miss Pollard was trying to get a reaction I believe she did by way of her peers as much as her listeners! Also, I believe that every one of the individuals that walked out with Miss Pollard is an adult and of the right frame of mind to make their own decisions and I can promise you not one of them had twist marks on their arms. If I would have found out that my employer was advertising my job I believe I would have helped him out by leaving. I, like everyone else, is ready for the rest of the story! I think some of you guys and gals who have been spewing off at the mouth might be eating a little crow. You the know old saying "When one door closes another always open." I bet there were already some open doors waiting.

You are correct! I'm sure there are open doors, how long they must wait due to legalities is the question. AP shouldn't be suffering right now without a paycheck, just hope the others are in as good of shape financially and insurance wise (or at least someone who can afford to pay them and their insurance when it runs out is doing so). As far as this particular thread's poster and the Stokes reference, both are long time friends of Mrs. Pollard and I can't blame either for casting her in a positive light because of the friendship. The rest of the story will eventually play itself out and until then we here in market 192 must continue to entertain the entertainers on the boards!

So, in an effort to entertain while we wait for resolution of the predicament, on a totally unrelated and totally irrelevant subject allow me to quickly present to you a brief synopsis of Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs which when completed leads to Self actualization. First, Physiological needs must be met which are inclusive of food, drink, sleep, oxygen, shelter and sex. Once met then the second level is Safety which is the need for an orderly, stable and predictable world. When Safety is met next comes Belonging and Love where the individual seeks and gets affectionate and intimate relationships with other people, feels part of various reference groups such as family, neighborhood, gang or professional association. Lastly before Self Actualization is Self Esteem Needs. Maslow does talk about two kinds of self esteem needs; one-respect from others, two-self respect. Self esteem entails competence, confidence, mastery, achievement, independence, and freedom while respect from others entails recognition, acceptance, status and appreciation. Once these four D-needs are met then an individual (if the individual has the courage) may choose to reach for self actualization which is basically the desire to fulfill one's highest potential. Self actualization can be characterized by self awareness, self honesty, freedom from the chaos surrounding others and trust in themselves, their mission in life, others and nature.**

Hope this fills the time while we wait and I hope everyone has a good day.

Anybody who thinks this deal came together over a beer the night before they walked out is crazy. This has probably been in the works for months. An entire staff of any company, much less a radio station, isn't going to walk off the job in this horrible economy without a safety net. Surely they were smart enough not to blindly follow their leader into unemployment without some kind of plan in play. My guess is that all of the former TVY employees are already on the payroll of TRP. Even those with non-competes. If you were the competition, wouldn't it be worth paying a few people to stay home for a while to theoretically destroy your main competitor? Especially if you were planning on trying to recapture the magic (pun intended) on another signal.

Not for sure if this will lighten the mood or not but I heard this couldn't pass up the chance to entertain people in little market 192...

This just in-a local woman has reportedly found a cheeto in the shape of Amy Pollard. That goes with discoveries of Amyʼs face on a piece of toast, and on that pancake from the waffle house south-side of the circle.

Ha Ha Ha ! LMFAO :D

Well they all say that Amy likes her face on everything, just like at Bama Jam.

OK, we've now covered cereals (bread), fruits (Jam), dairy (cheese), guess it just needs to be seen on something from the meat group.......so if the rumor is true and LDA is the Big Bull then if 105.3 becomes the Horses #** that'll cover it (if the other rumors are true as well).
