Cox would be a likely buyer as well, I would think - can Cox buy those stations and stay within the legal limit?

Not a chance. They would have to unload every station they currently own in Houston. Who will buy those stinkers?

Ahhh COX can buy more..they only own 3 iirc (92.9, 97.1 and 107.5)...5 is the limit in a market like Houston.
What about KHPT?

Yep....they do.....thanks....AND I also found out the Bain group also has interest in Cumulus Media....which owns the Houston cluster....so Cumulus is OUT after all...COX could buy one more..maybe sell 97.1 and pick up two MO City signals?? The possibilities are endless..

Salem did just take in $7.5M from BizRadio. They could certainly apply those dollars to a real class A station in this market.

Class C guys...not A....Class A is a 3-6KW at 300ft...lets keep the semantics correct....You may have meant a "GRADE A" station...but lets not use the word Class unless you say Class C :)

As for a CCM outlet, what about EMF buying a full market signal for a "K-Love" station. Just a thought.

I am sure if the price was under 30, EMF would make a run for it. But that is the range for a station in Austin, not Houston. The actual price is likely to be significantly more than double that price.

Also, EMF has a no-compete agreement with KSBJ which is why they turned down the Beaumont non-comm and why they do not currently have a station in any of KSBJ's markets (College Station, Victoria, etc.).

No compete in GOD Radio...somehow that just sounds WRONG...(and just goes to prove that religious broadcasters are NOT in it for the soul..but the cash)

Why is it wrong? The non-compete, as I understand it (and I am not privy to either party), is on the friendliest of terms. It might not even be a real document and more of a gentleman's agreement.

It is expensive to operate a good local station like KSBJ with tons of local talent and I am sure that it is reassuring to know that K-Love isn't going to just roll into town with nearly identical content (and a morning show that features KSBJ's station voice) and a ultra-low cost structure to squeeze them out. Keep in mind that it isn't a moratorium on all Christian stations or formats but specifically just the K-Love Christian AC format that is so similar to KSBJ.

I am trying really hard to stay away from your pejorative "GOD Radio" terminology. CW, you are better than that.

Guys just think for a sec.... Even though it probably wont ever happen, but IF Mix gets sold to Cumulus then Sam would be working right along side with Roula and Ryan.... Can we say irony!!!! :)

Yes, I meant Grade A. Hey I'm from the sales/buying end, not the technical. Get off your High Horse!
