Burlington Market Needs New of AM Radio Formats

Between 1390AM frequency bouncing around with formats between 1070 AM, 1420 AM St.Albans
1490 AM Middlebury and etc etc etc. Wouldn't be a fresh sound here to have a Big Band Sound, 50
standards hits format. Many mid and small markets in this country have AM stations and even I have heard
a few FM station with this format on many drives to Florida thru the east coast. For example if
anybody vacations or have family in the Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Fort Myers area visiting
family tune into WKII 1070 AM. They put out a very good day time signal thru Southwest Florida
and there night time pattern is very impressive also. Who wants to listen 24 hours a day to ESPN Sports
format. Sports is Sports but lets get some fresh radio waves in Northwestern Vermont. WJOY AM has
a music format but mixes everything from 50's to present somtimes. If anybody is driving down to
Albany NY. check out WABY 1160 AM and simod on 910 AM Saratoga they have this format and seems
to be working well. What are the thoughts of others on here?

What are your choices for formats for an AM station in Burlington in 2007? Not many, and they all seem to be covered:

News/talk - covered by WVMT and WEAV
Sports - covered by WCAT
Standards (and the Sox) - covered by WJOY
Vapid chick talk - covered by WTWK
Full service - covered by WIRY

Perhaps a religious format might fit on an AM in B-P. Otherwise, there's not much wiggle room. That said, I remember the first Arbitron survey that included the current market definition when it was released in 2001, and was surprised by the success of WIRY in Clinton County. That's as old-school as radio gets, and they enjoy a large piece of the pie up there. Could an AM stick on this side of the pond do what they do for Chittenden County and be successful?

Not much choices I agree, WIRY 1340 AM Plattsburgh is still sucessful as a strictly local 24 DJ station.
Night time on this side of the pond in Burlington is noisy and can not make them out. Day time is good.
If you are in the west side of South Hero on the lake they are in the night time grade A signal.
As far a religious format that is covered very well in the lower FM below 91.9 by at least 3 to 4 stations
on both sides of the lake between Plattsburgh and Burlington areas. I am not surprised that Disney Radio
has not found Burlington. I think the closest one is in Albany NY but probably not big enough populate
area for them to survive.
