Calvin Harris Solo Music FINALLY Being Played on US Mainstream Radio

;D

I realize the Calvin Harris has been on some hits in the US as a featured artist (most recently with Rihanna), but none of his own solo stuff has ever been aired on US mainstream radio (just stations like C89 and the like). Stations that have picked up Calvin's latest track "Feel So Close", are WKTU, KAMP, KKDM, and WFLZ, to name a few.

But, more than likely, due to the popularity of the Rihanna tune, Calvin Harris is FINALLY getting a crack at the US market as a solo artist, and I think he is going to be the next David Guetta here (I hope).

No offense to you Guetta fans, since I like his stuff too, but I have always found Calvin Harris more interesting because he has all the good talent of David Guetta, yet Calvin also has songs of his own that he sings.

Well, good luck with your solo career here in the US Calvin. And since I have been a fan for years, I will definitely be pulling for you.

I wouldn't call the US version of the Havana Brown song dance. It was morphed into pop. Original and US version very different.

Like Perry stated, "Feels So Close" was actually getting airplay last year. I know KZON used to occasionally play it (as well as KVIT), but it has been brought back to KZON (typical for this station), while KZZP and KMVA had also picked it up. That list of reporting stations playing the track isn't accurate.

The list is from all access which is through Mediabase. The fact that KZON is currently is airing the song. They've only spun this track 9 times as of this week. And twice last week. Judging by the number of spins, it seems like it's only being aired during mixshows or once a night @ KZON.

KZZP- 26 spins this week. 16 last week.
KMVA- 28 spins this week. 26 last week.

Regardless, I am glad to see this song getting more airplay and on more stations. It good for dance music and dance fans.

I was actually referring to "We Run the Night" when it was brought up earlier, but yes Calvin is just as Old. However, I think this is one of those slow movers like "Levels" where the sheep find out about the cool gems a year later. But I don't think Havana Brown is in this category, as I was expressing it would be silly to bring back a record that I imagined already ran its course.

No worries on the mix-up, but yeah, I think the Havanna Brown tune was early 2011, whereas "Feel So Close" was mid-late summer 20111 in the UK.

The bottom line is American audiences are so fickle (or should I say American radio top 3 companies are so fickle...just sayin), that whose to say what will crack US market if they can't be heard.

I wonder where Afrojack went wrong, as Afrojack broke a top 40 production LAST year. What, were Ne-yo and Pitbull not good enough to get Afrojack on the map?

Afrojack is too 'crazy' for mass appeal. The sick bits tire quickly. Mass appeal is still all about a pure 'song'. Not a crazy manipulated sine wave.

Afrojack did have a top 30 pop hit. He certainly got on the map more than 99% of the pure dance acts talked about on this board.

Yeah the list of reporting stations is no where near complete. I knew when I didnt see my station listed somethin wasn't right, we were one of the first 10 stations to spin it back in Aug/Sept last year. The info you get from ALL ACCESS, I believe, is from Mediabase yes, but it's only snapshots and samples of info, you have to subscribe for all the info with the entire picture.

142 out of 154 reporting CHR stations to mediabase played feels so close in the past 7 days. He's also being played on half of the reporting rhythmic stations.

Im actually surprised Calvin Harris-Feels So Close is getting heavy airplay here in Indianapolis,, and my fiiends who arent Dance Fans seem to like it. I wonder if WDJX Louisville is Playing it.....
