Can Clear Channel Use an HD3 station for country music?

Clear Channel replaced Country Music on 103.5 HD2 with a rhythmic station aimed at a gay and lesbian audience. The CBS owned stations in NYC use the HD3 channels to simulcast their AMs. I would suggest that Clear Channel use 103.5 HD3 for country music.

People haven't taken to the "stations between the stations" on HD. Further, who's available to listen? People aren't spending the bucks for HD radios. Further, they haven't found HD2 let alone HD3 signals.

In answer to your question ... can they? Yes, of course they can. They could turn it into a country Internet station because they won't invest in what it will take to reach such a limited HD audience. And the IBOC hash won't help.

Can they? Sure.
Will they? very unlikely.
Should they? NO. Looking beyond the fact HD hasn't even found takeoff speed yet, even the big guys realize splitting up the limited super compressed 96k more than 2 ways for music channels is not a good idea.

It was just posted over on the dentist board that, according to KTU PD Rob Miller, the country format will move over to 106.7 HD2 on Friday.

No word on whether the classic lite format will be completely replaced or if it'll end up on HD3.

oaktree, I agree 100% with your point

!) ktu hd2 has been unreliable on my cambridge hd radio---I finally adjusted it last night---but know it is a moot point since country is moving to ltw hd2.I stopped the ktu van in april and asked them to move country to ltw hd3.My wife loves classic lite---I hope they put it on HD3!!!!!!
