Can you judge talk radio by its advertisers?

IMO, the talk radio audience, which used to be pitched to advertisers as better educated, more affluent and more socially involved, has degenerated into just the opposite.

I submit for your consideration an ad that's currently running nationwide on talk radio that promises to, "restore hormonal imbalance." No, really, that's exactly what the copy says!

So if you're an advertiser with a useless product to sell, here's your target audience ... a bunch of people who are captivated by the endless "us vs. them," "left vs. right," "Pubs vs. Dems" rhetoric, and who embrace the goal of hormonal imbalance. I rest my case!

In all seriousness, if I'm a legitimate advertiser I don't want to be anywhere near the same medium as these cranks.

Every time I hear these sorts of ads I think to myself, "can things really be that bad in the Sales Department?"

Then when I ask somebody I know who is still working in one the answer comes back "Yes, they are!!"
