Canadian Time Signal station CHU on 7335 kHz news.

Canadian Time and Frequency station CHU/Ottawa, Ontario will be moving it's current 7335 kHz transmission to the new frequency of 7850 kHz effective at 0000 hours UTC on 1/1/09. Originally the 7335 frequency was allocated to fixed service operation. However, the 7335 frequency is now allocated for International broadcast use. Thus, CHU (considered a fixed service, not broadcast) decided to move up to 7835 to avoid the interference that the mega-powered broadcasters use to operate. The announcement for the change is being broadcast alternatately every two minutes in both English and French up until the time of the change. For more information. check out this link.

When I started to listening to shortwave radio, CHU was one of the first stations that I picked up. I can still remember hearing them say, "CHU...Dominion Observatory, Canada". They would then give the Eastern Standard Time.
