IT WAS all pretty exciting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, what with the anniversary cake from the staff and Mayor Dave Cieslewicz dropping off an admiring proclamation and a film crew in from Indiana looking for an interview for the documentary they are doing on Larry Pierce, the king of bawdy country music.

Bill Malone, who always looks and sounds like nothing much has bothered him since, oh, about the time Elvis died, grinned at the minor chaos around him and said:

"I think we should play some music."

And he did. ...
