cardinals football (1960-1987) radio announcer history

hello.

i am currently undertaking research on compiling the radio announcer history for all 32 nfl teams.

broadcasting magazine has been a massive help from the years 1963 thru 1976. however the years before (1960-1962) and after for the cardinals (1977-1987) during their stay in st. louis are proving very difficult for me to find.

i know that bob starr and bill wilkerson are some names since 76 (starr in 77, 78 & 79).

if anyone out there can provide help with names of play by play men and color analysts and years they worked for the 60-62 & 77-87 eras and post them here, i would be most grateful!!!!

thanks.

I seem to remember Jack Buck calling some football Cardinals games with Bill Wilkerson in the 80s.

Wilkerson did PBP for the Football Cardinals for much of their history..Zip Rezeppa (sp), former sports guy for Channels 2 and 4 also did PBP for the Cardinals in the final couple of years..I think he teamed with Jackie Smith for a while..

I was listening to KMOX this morning, and Charlie Brennan had Mike Shannon as a guest. Brennan played a tape of Shannon doing the color on the last Big Red game in St. Louis, with Bill Wilkerson on the call.

thanks for the help. for 1984 i have jack buck (he wasn't part of the cbs-tv lineup in 84 so that should be true) and dan dierdorf (also likely as he didn't join cbs-tv till 85).

so then i would guess that 1987 would be wilkerson-shannon?
if shannon did do color for the big red, that wouldn't be the first case of an ex-baseballer doing football games. don drysdale was the radio analyst for the rams in l.a. from 1973 thru 1976.

then 77-83 & 85-86 are still unsure. maybe rezeppa-smith teamed up in 85 & 86?
