Carrie Underwood is on A/C. So's Taylor Swift. So's Keith Urban. On some stations, even Tim McGraw.
Crossover Country is big at most A/C's.
Mix 107.7 spins quite a few crossover Country tunes, such as "Before He Cheats" and "Wasted" by Carrie Underwood, as well as Taylor Swift's "Teardrops On My Guitar" and more recently "Our Song"(I even heard "Our Song" on Mix 97.1/Columbus recently, the Hot AC over there). Mix 107.7 played the hell out of Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying" as well.
Also, as a side note, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow's "Picture" DID crossover to Country back in the Spring of 2003.
Another Ronnie Milsap song that crossed over to CHR in 1983 was "Stranger In My House", which I believe was a Top 20 hit for him. If you want to hear how Country crossed over to CHR in the early 80s, catch one of those "AT40 Flashback" shows on Mix 107.7 6-10 AM Sat. morning, especially the 82-83 shows...Country crossed over quite a bit back then.
I would also like to agree with Jason that CHR is in a downswing right now(Just looking at the charts I don't recognize half the songs), however, we COULD thank/blame Mainline for dumping Z-93 and giving us Fly 92.9, where I am CONSTANTLY reminded how great CHR used to be. Then again I could listen to Channel, but i'd rather just turn off the radio than listen to the mess that that station has become due to total neglect.
