Carter-Sherman Sale Urban In Wichita, KS

From Radio & Records.com, heard it was sold at the beginning of this week, most likely the format will change on KSJM and once again Wichita will be without an Urban Station. I would've thought they would sale to Russell Perry in Oklahoma because I've heard for years he was looking for a station Wichita.

[EDIT-The comments, broker, format, and form of the listing are copyrighted by R&R. In the future please paraphrase such content.]

That is really too bad, it does look like Wichita will be without urban radio again. Hopefully, Perry can buy a different station there at some point soon. It is just up the highway from OKC.

This deals seems to be hush-hush in Wichita. I have'nt seen anything from the local media on this. Unfortunately, KSJM listeners will get a rude awakening one morning soon when they can't find The Steve Harvey Morning show.

They were streaming before midnight New Years Eve.I noticed now the stream is down. Has the change begun? Anyone in Wichita please respond. Thanks.

Looks like January 15, 2007 is the date for the change according to Carrie Rengers Wichita Eagle column dated 12-30-07. New owner Larry Strickline will change the call letters to KWLS and the station will be called ”U.S. 107.9”. and yes, it will be a country format (as if Wichita was in need of yet another country station).
