Casblanca, for the good of progressive talk, what about giving Julie a chance...

What about not resisting Julie Kahn's efforts to put a high profile Democrat on the air at WRKO.

If the courts have forgiven him (or settled with him), maybe it will open the floodgates for more progressive talk?

After Bush's failure with last night's speech a Democratic message is the only one that will resonate

Bush was begging for "another chance." He doesn't deserve one, but perhaps Julie does?

State of the Union

After Bush's failure with last night's speech

Bush's speech last night was a complete success. Well-written and well-delivered. His only mistake was not placing enough importance on the need to transition to nuke-u-ler power.

Did my eyes deceive me, or was that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D) applauding every chance she got?

... a Democratic message is the only one that will resonate

The Democratic response to the State of the Union was not was well done, in my opinion.

Hear, hear. But Finneran, while a Democrat, is pretty moderate. And he is going to be paired with someone for a while, at least. Isn't it likely that it would be a conservative?

So, how about progressives and/or liberals on with Feinburg and/or Carr.... It will break the hearts of all the 'RKO right-wingers who are already calling for Kahn to be tarred and feathered for betraying the cause, but heck, they still have Howie, Savage, Limbaugh, Feinburg, etc. etc. etc.

And let's face it, in Massachusetts it makes good business sense. Since there are more liberal than conservative spenders in this state , it seems obvious that good progressive talk would be more lucrative than good conservative talk from the point of view of advertisers. Think hybrid cars, organic shampoo, recycle anything.... Think advertising music and theater events. Heck, even liberals need hair replacement treatments, male sexual performance products, and 'tattoo regret' services.

You guys sure have a partisan political agenda.

I'm just a consumer of radio interested in a broad range of opinions in the marketplace of ideas on commercial radio.... It is not unlike promoting an opportunity for an urban vs. rock format. Is there a need? Would you personally listen?

And, I'm pointing out the obvious business opportunity in the state of Massachusetts. Imagine two talk radio stations in Alaska that are liberal from 6 am to 1 am (excepting Eagan and Braude for one hour until a couple of weeks ago). Does that scenario suggest a business opportunity for conservative talk? I would suggest yes. Perhaps I'm wrong - love to hear the arguments against it.

I know you don't like Finneran, you've lambasted Kahn, and you've also criticized Feinburg. Maybe I've missed it, but I can't find anywhere that you've suggested anything... I'd love to hear you suggest someone. Anyone.

Re: Casblanca, for the good of progressive talk, what about giving Julie a chanc

If a left-leaning show is well done it would attract an audience, so who knows. If it's entertaining, etc.
And if 'RKO gave libtalk a chance and it plummeted in the ratings, it would be back to all conservative
in no time, eh? Or maybe all sports...heck, maybe they can have "Red Sox in 2" 10-noon. "A condensed
version of last night's exciting Red Sox game". just like NESN! Or have WEEI move their Fox Sports
shows over to 'RKO and WEEI can replay the Sox game at midnight like they do with the Nats in DC (WTWP).
(I know, these wouldn't happen but 'RKO is doing so much sports anyway...) :)

btw B. Maloney reports (and I figured as much) that Finneran is doing practice shows
with fake callers over at 'RKO. (and the soon to be departed S.A. Miller says on his blog that a mini-scandal
involving the new gov. is about to break; we'll see how it's handled on local talk radio.)

Felon Finneran another "staggering" choice from Julie "The Executioner Kahn. Maybe the next show she plans will be live from The Betty Ford Center.... ;)

One of the most objective opinions expressed here in awhile. Hear Hear! HERE HERE!

Might have to agree with Casablanca though, Julie's not about to make the Carr show Hannity & Colmes & Carr,
nor will she make it Carr & Casablanca, though she should. Casablanca would jab her more than Jay Leno attacks NBC

Re: Casblanca, for the good of progressive talk, what about giving Julie a chanc

...Finneran and Howie in the morning...? now that would be fireworks!

Re: Casblanca, for the good of progressive talk, what about giving Julie a chanc

Raccoon, great idea. That would reinvent Mr. Carr. He should run with it.

Raccoon, I assume you're talking about Carr and Finneran the day of the announcement - I believe you posted the aircheck the day of... you can also listen here http://rope.wrko-am.fimc.net/audio/podzinger.htm

It was truly interesting radio from two alpha dogs who've been around the block going at each other....

I don't think they could do it every single day, but it could be quite interesting have each on each other's show once a week or so....
