Catfish Country 102.9FM, 100.1FM, 1230AM (WTBC/WNPT) - Marion, AL - still on the air?

Gday folks,

My name's Sean, I currently live in Western Australia and I've had the same rewarding job as breakfast audio producer here in Perth at one of our bigger stations for some time. I'm a classic country music nut and have my own side project which keeps me busy in my downtime.

My girlfriend is likely to take a job in Tuscaloosa beginning in about August 2016 I think - and of course I'm coming with her.

I've been looking around options for possible radio employment in or within a 30-45 minute drive of Tuscaloosa - and I found Catfish Country 102.9FM also broadcasting on 100.1FM, 1230AM on WTBC too.. licensed out of Marion, AL. Even though I'm a country music nut, I'm not necessarily looking for work at a station like that - just assessing my options at this stage.

My problem with Catfish is that I can run Google searches for it but there's no website, no internet stream - The Facebook page was lasted active in January 2015, their Twitter account was last active November 2013.. I have no idea if this station is still broadcasting. The only way I could think to check was by getting somebody who knows the radio industry in the area or is actually in Tuscaloosa with a regular AM/FM radio who could verify!

I see there were a few untimely deaths in the Catfish family with the GM and their morning jock - but can anybody actually tell me if Catfish is still a functional station on any or all of the above frequencies? What about WTBC 1230AM? Wikipedia says Classic Country format, but that's all I can find out about it!

Love some information from any folks who might know.

Thanks a lot!
Sean (Perth, West Australia)

Catfish is still on the air. I am 40 minutes from Tuscaloosa if you are looking or anyone for a job in radio sales/marketing. I would be willing to talk with you.

Thanks Groove, I'll keep that in mind! :)

So would you happen to know who is running the show at Catfish these days? Or who their owner is? Any of their staff or personalities that I could reach out to?

I'd also be curious to know if there are any Facebook groups, industry sites (where job news/advertisements may get posted) or radio sites/forums in which might be specific to Tuscaloosa/Alabama area? Even if they're not specific - I'd love a lead or two :).

Over here in Australia we've got RadioToday, Jocks Journal and a few others but in the US.. I'm pretty stumped! My background is audio production/producing/on air - what's the market like around the Tuscaloosa area?

Thanks for any help! :)

Most of the market is syndicated, or voice tracked or is jockless. Iheart owns most of the market.

You might try townsquare media. They are the other player in the market.
