Catholic group to buy Toledo radio station?

Well, they do promise an "exciting announcement".

This is just a thought, as I haven't heard anything about it, but would EMF sell 1520 to Annunciation? I can't see them doing anything else with that station, which was basically a throw-in with the 96.9 purchase, unless they consider it a K-Love in-market fill-in.

EMF doesn't have a lot of AMs.

EMF tell me they will start programming 1520 in the next few weeks but no word about what kind/type of programming will be on the station once they take over 1520.

One of four things will happen with the AM:
K-Love network satellite drone
Air1 network satellite drone
Leased out to someone else
Sold off to someone else

EMF does not do any local programming of their own, and typically does not program AM stations except as filler until they sell them off or LMA to someone else.

As for the Catholic group, I thought it was mentioned in another thread that they had won a CP for a full power non-comm frequency from the last non-comm filing window.

Would Cumulus lease the station/ or sell off WTOD? Might Urban radio take it and flip it to gospel?

Classic country or Adult standards? ???

From (apparently) Deacon Mike himself, earlier in this thread...I should really pay more attention:

"This was done to help us learn the steps we will need to run our own station.
To answer the question that people seem to be asking, we are not planning to purchase 1560 AM. We do hope to have our own FM station sometime in the not too distant future, but that depends on God and the FCC. When that does happen, we will do our best to let the world know."

Chuck here, who programmed WTOD until last year and brought Annunciation Radio aboard there, also said upthread that Annunciation wants an FM.

So much for that earlier thought of mine. :D Even though WNWT has full-time authorization (all 400 watts of it, geting clobbered by skywave from far away), it would appear the Annunciation folks aren't interested in picking up an AM.

So, we're back to a K-Love simulcast of 96.9, I assume, until such time as some other party brokers or buys 1520 from EMF. I can't see them putting Air1 on the AM side, and there is a modest need for in-market fill-in from the 96.9 rimshot.

Is there anyone out there in the Toledo market hoping to spread their word on the AM radio dial?

Little birdie in my ear...something about one could possibly purchase WNWT/AM 1520 for less than $300k from EMF.

In the big picture, a steal. Plus of course operating funds for at least one year; rent, salaries, new automation (it needs it!), ,marketing, engineering, licenses, etc, etc.

A singular station would get killed from a sales perspective. Nevermind ratings. Ratings are the last of the worries. Got to pay the bills.

Need to partner with another group, or a TV station... say... WMNT-TV MY 48/58? I'm just sayin'....the facility that houses WMNT-TV is where WNKL and WNWT currently reside. So, broadcast space would be available for someone purchasing WNWT.

If someone outside normal broadcast circles is interested in WNWT from EMF (closing soon!) ... I can put you in touch with someone who is presently dealing with them.

I'm just sayin'.
