1986 must have been a very, very good year for you. You might have been the only person in the world to have looked at Buckner's infamous error with indifference. :

Dont worry this years Giants Games will be on 92.3 again when conflicted with The Mets ;Dlalumia said:GREAT way to lose ratings;
and when they lose ratings because of giants games, they'll blame it on too many 60s records;
bRING BACK THE MARVELETTES!

I wouldn't think CBS would want to air the Giants on Now FM - I know last year, with Now in its infancy, they didn't want to mess with whatever cume they've built. Plus, I would think the demos that would listen to Giants games would not be the same demo to listen to Now FM, so if true, I think it's a bad fit.
And by the way, Devin... What do you mean by "the Giants overflow station is 92.3 NowFM again"? Unless you're referring to the old "Free-FM" days.
Nope it is all true that Giants games are gonna be on NowFM this upcoming season when conflicted with The Mets
Top40 actally does mix well with sports
i know alot about radio so this is how i am telling you this
WCBSFM listeners did not like it at all when they put the games on WCBSFM
it will do fine because The Packers flagship station is a Top40 station and back in the 60s WABC carried The Jets as the biggest Top40 station in the world
so Giants games on NowFM is actally a good fit trust me
alot of NowFM listeners like sports

No krock wont be back but they are putting The Giants on 92.3 when conflicted with The Mets

And with at least five games this season scheduled for prime time (some games later in the season could be "flexed" to Sunday night), that would be a total nightmare to football fans who follow the Jets on the radio. You would have to believe that the team and/or ESPN are working on a feasible fix to this predicament.

The only NY terrestrial station I listen to regularly is WFAN. Occaisionally, WCBS Newsradio 880. I haven't listened to a NY FM music station since subscribing to Sirius in 2003. When talk and sports come to a NY FM station, I might stop by for a listen!
I agree that 92.3 NOW-FM is taking a risk by picking up overflow Giants' games. Comparing Green Bay to New York doesn't make sense, market 186 vs market 1. When WABC carried the Jets during it's 1960s top 40 glory years, it was a well-established top 5 station. NOW trails Z-100 and 'KTU substantially, which is why I question this move.
The 1960s radio environment bears no resemblance to 2010, with the proliferation of iPods, MP3s, satellite, internet, Pandora, etc. There are far more choices today.![]()

Actally NowFM has higher ratings now and it sounds like there about to get rid of Z100
KTU Hot 97 and Power 105.1 dont count because KTU is disco and Power 105.1 and Hot 97 are urban formats

92.3 NOW-FM is CBS' lowest rated station in NY. NOW substantially trails all of the other major pop stations (Z100, KTU, Power, Hot). We'll see what effect the Giants' games have. IMHO, if 92.3's ratings situation doesn't improve, the games could be a prelude to a simulcast with WFAN.![]()
BabyDJ said:The games should air on 1010 WINS. Period. And I don't want to hear about the "All News" angle... WINS was the Yankees flagship in the 70's thru 1981 when WABC got them. WINS is a disaster right now (have you noticed how alot of the "new" bumpers that were rolled out in May with alot of fanfare have been scaled waaaaay back?). It's behind WCBS AM in many ways and the demos are aging badly. What keeps WCBS AM younger is the Yankees in the summer when they cash in. Maybe WINS could get some help here.
WCBS FM or any of the CBS FM outles shouldn't have afternoon and weeknight programming interrupted during the week (it happens 2 times.. one in preseason on a Thursday and on a Monday in regular season) for Giants football. CBS has built a #1 MUSIC station in NYC and the games are NOT suited for Fresh (CBS won't put it there especially with the high priced Jim Ryan in the building) or NOW, which despite what people here think is doing very well and continuing to rise in cume and in their target demos..
The castoff FAN programming should go somewhere else... either have the Giants lease time on WBBR or put it on WINS.
