CBS Radio News Closure: Effects on WBZ and Boston

Could we perhaps concentrate the discussion on the thread which properly exists under National Radio Topics, rather than have a dozen or more duplicative threads?

That is fine by me. Had not seen the other thread. Thank you for sharing.

I wonder if small stations will just give up on national news all together. I hope not.

Many of them already have. The station I program in Albuquerque (KRKE) has no news ... just the weather hourly (twice an hour in morning drive) and an hour of public affairs programming on Sunday morning.

I just hope WBZ doesn't decide to replace CBS News Radio with self-styled "NBC News Radio", which is NOT an NBC News offering at all, but rather a shell for iHeart's 24/7 news service. They should now rely more on both ABC News Radio and AP News Radio.

You speak as if the listeners know the difference, or even care. The answer to both is "they don't".

Heard from WHAV-LP CEO who states that there will be no local impacts as WHAV-LP decided not to renew its affiliation agreement with CBS back in February.

How, pray tell, does a four-watt LPFM even get a commercial network affiliation in the first place?

KM - again I need to ask who appointed you as the board police? This move affects things differently in different places.

It was a polite suggestion to concentrate the general discussion into the thread on National Radio Topics and leave these for the market-specific concerns.

What you didn't see was the original topic titles, which David was kind enough to change to show the local focus instead of the previous general titles, which were more broadly worded.

Please stop accusing me of motives not in evidence.
