CBS Radio News Closure: Effects on WBZ and Boston

Be interesting to listen to WHAV-LP up here in the Merrimack Valley region. They have local news and then CBS Radio news as well.
They are claiming that they're about to sign up with a new national news partner as yet undisclosed.

The LPFM station probably figured, “What is CBS going to do, sue us?”

I'm still trying to figure out how a four-watt LPFM got an affiliation agreement in the first place. Don't confuse me with witticisms.

Since the announcement of CBS radio news shutting down, I’ve been hearing many more stories during the day including breaking news from ABC.

I’m thinking that’s the direction they plan on going for the overnight hourly newscasts.

Couple of things:

(1) I noticed ‘BZ once again refers to Channel 4’s reporters as being from WBZ-TV instead of “CBS News - Boston”, and

(2) I’ve heard Deborah Rodriguez reporting for 1010 WINS.

I have still only heard CBS on the radio overnight. I am sure they will use it as long as they can. I was reading another site and it said there is a new network coming with CBS radio voices. Maybe that will be the choice. If ABC is already an affiliate perhaps it would be easier to stay with them. We will find out sooner than later.

I have heard this too on BZ. When you watch the news on TV it seems they are getting rid of a lot of CBS references too. Their logo is different.

I think that many stations and broadcasters have reduced the number of brands they promote.

A station with a name, one or more dial positions, a website, a positioning statement, and owner's name, a network and sports affiliation and more is just confusing.

With a few exceptions where an owner, like iHeart, has streaming aggregation services, events, networks and such, the name of the owner is significant. The group that owns a few stations in Iowa is not.

I'm still hearing scattered actualities "from CBS News" throughout the day. I suspect they're from WBZ-TV, and not anything directly from any network feed.

By “direct network feed” I was referring to a feed designed specifically for affiliate stations, as opposed to these interweb-based services not specifically intended for radio affiliates.
