Dan Dennis said:Who even watches network morning news anymore, anyway? People who go to work before 7 probably tune in to the local newscasts, especially for traffic and weather info. With more and more working moms, who actually watches TV between 7 and 9 any more?

Troy Goodwin said:It might be a good idea for CBS to turn over the 7-9am time frame and let their own affiliates use it to carry their own local news. The Curse of Captain Kangaroo still lives. Only CBS.

Most of the CBS affiliates would probably love this, at least for the 7am hour. More local relevance and revenue.
I've long thought and am increasingly convinced that there isn't room for three national network morning shows, especially with all the other options available.
The only reason CBS continues to plug away is because they see themselves as one of the big boys that needs to be on the playing field, even if it means getting its butt kicked.
The CBS affiliate here in Nashville already has local news from 4:00 to 7:00 a.m. on the main channel, with one more hour from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. on the subchannel. If they were to go all the way to 9:00 a.m., that would give them FIVE hours of local news in the morning!Troy Goodwin said:It might be a good idea for CBS to turn over the 7-9am time frame and let their own affiliates use it to carry their own local news. Not gonna happen.rgseark2009 said:I expect Harry Smith to be brought back sometime.
You think John McDonough would be interested?fussbudget said:The only way CBS is going to fix their morning show woes is to bring back Captain Kangaroo.
Troy Goodwin said:Well, CBS did The Morning Show-a predecessor to CBS This Morning-With Marriette Hartley, & Bob Saget as anchors, and Mark McEwen as The Meteorologist. Whatever happened to them, beats me. But I think Bob Saget went on to host "America's Funniest Home Videos", and he's also The narrator of The CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother".

bob saget is an interesting guy.he can do family style shows (full house and americas funniest videos) or dirty humor(he has a funny HBO special that is on dvd and tells a hillarious version of the aristocrats joke in the aristocrats movie) equily well.i like both styles.
