CBS Show fly Duane Glasscock in to do the last air shift at BCN

Oh wait, that would cost money.

Have you ever been phoned in Upton Mass for being a lucky wise guy?

They've got to do something.

Would love to hear a reunion of Charles, Ken, Mark, (let's forget his little incident - he was a great jock), Carter, Bradlee J, Tami, Albert O.... Maybe some old airchecks. Maybe J. Geils, Aerosmith, The Cars, even U2 could visit or call up. (I believe BCN were the first to play U2 in the U.S.)

The people saying that Boston, and 'BCN, are "different," are right on. Letting the station go off with no memorial is like allowing the Red Sox to move to, say, Seattle without any send-off. (Not that that would ever happen, but...)

Yes, I think Mark Parenteau was my second favorite out of a whole lot of great jocks on that station, Dwayne Ingalls Glasscock being the first. I listed to Mark's whole show just about every afternoon.
I was listening one afternoon and he started a 45 on 33 1/3, he went on this whole long spiel about how he hated these new large 45's they looked like 33 1/3's etc on and on. He then put it on the correct speed and let it play through, He started the next record and again a 45 on 33 1/3, he changed the speed and didn't say a word. You had to be there but it was really funny. Both of those guys were really funny Charles and Mark, they don't make them like that anymore. Those jocks were entertainment, I listened as much for them as I did the music.

If they could find Duane, he could do it ISDN for short money. He probably doesn't know where 83 Leo Birmingham Pkwy is and would go to 1265 Boylston St by mistake.

Maybe the fitting end for WBCN would be the same one WHDH got. After all they are flushing over 40 years of radio history down the toilet.

Believe it or not, Duane's alter-ego, Charles, would actually know what 83 Leo Birmingham Parkway is. It was the former studios and offices of WSBK-TV 38. Charles did a Friday night movie schtick on TV-38 during the early 80's. Of course now, it is being used for the CBS cluster of stations. But the chances of getting Laquidara to do his "Duane" bit are probably just much as 'BCN getting a reprieve from the CBS AXE. Next to nil.

Speaking of Laquidara. Remember the time he actually got fired for a time from 'BCN back in the "early days" of the Progressive Format? It was his little "commentary" regarding a certain advertiser who still bought time on 'BCN, a hold out from the "Wonderful..... 1-0-4" days. It was a certain camera manufacturer. After the spot he said, in essence, "Why are we running commercials from a company that has been killing all of those Cambodian babies?". The Vietnam War was in full swing at the time and 'BCN would eventually be in the thick of things with some of the comments made by the jocks during that horrible time in our nation's history. 'BCN was the source for alternative thought and opinion. What a time!

D.I.G. one saturday morning: Umm, ahh, people don't usually talk about this on the radio but, umm, I have to go to the, ah... bathroom. I'm going to play a couple of songs for you while I'm gone... Three or four records start at the same time and play together for about a minute, haha!

It will be interesting to hear when the jocks (that are live & not voice tracked) abandon the playlist. And play what they want! Its bound to happen!!
