CBS Sports Radio coming to 107.1?

I've never listened to 95.5 before until today and now I understand why they have a downtown translator. As I was driving up 670W through downtown, the signal became completely inaudible especially next to the WBNS towers.

The local DJ, Lisa just said she can assure all of the 107.1 listeners they will be Classic Country when they wake up in the morning.
Looks like to many 107.1 New Country listeners thought this was just an April Fools Joke and they would get their NEW Country back tomorrow morning!

Also, 107.1 is already getting complaints from some listeners in Southern Delaware county that can't pick up the station any more since it moved over to 107.1 from 95.5.

Also, Note WCOL-FM is going to pick up some of the disgruntled listeners from both stations as
was expected.

OMG............I live in North Lewis Center, 5 miles north of Polaris Mall, and can NOT get clear reception on any of my 6 radios in my home. Then I get in the car and not until I get around High Street and Polaris Parkway do I get a clear signal..........After many, many years, its back to WCOL...92.3 How very disappointing for us folks that live north of 270......Then I get to work in Worthington, and No reception in my office....REALLY
Where's the tower?? Nashville....LOL

I have no idea how I can get through the day without you after years and years enjoying you Lisa. I guess it must be a cost saving move for the company, at our expense....................

b]So trying to make sense of this...107.1 is now K95 (but it's on 107.1) and the format changed from what we liked (new country + some classics) to all classic.....makes no sense. 95.5 changed formats to a bunch of sports talk (which you can get on AM, Satellite, Internet - phone, computer, iPod, tab....or even on cable tv. Hmmm, I fail to see the humor in this unless it's an April Fools joke gone wrong.

I truly do not like this.. It doesn't come in very well.. I have been a listener of this station since the 50's and this is the worst thing I have heard from K95... Please move back !!! Is this "DOWNSIZING" ????

Bad enough 107.1 was best station in town, but couldn't get it at home or in my office. Second best station was 95.5. With the switch, I can't listen to either.

Local programming coming soon. Torg has hinted he will be on the station, and apparently Archie from QFM96 will be have a show on 95.5 also. Not sure if they're doing one program together or two separate program.

Interesting to see the handful of unhappy 107.1 listeners... Considering how low it always did in the PPMs.. There can't be that many unhappy people in Columbus about the change.

Now only if Wilks can learn how to properly program their Wide Orbit PC to the CBS Sports Radio format clock for 95.5... Multiple times I have heard liners walk over spots today. I also heard multiple spot blocks run long causing the 'rejoin' to network programming in progress etc.. Kind of sloppy programming for as such simple task.

It will be interesting to see how 95.5 does as sports... I am guessing in the first full PPM book we'll se a big drop from the loss of country listeners... I do have to say I am not a big sports talk radio fan but I enjoyed listening to it in the car the few times I was out today. CBS seems to cover a wide range of topics and doesn't stick to one subject matter..

Btw Wilks would be smart to turn off the Stereo Generator... I am pretty sure the CBS/Dial Global content is in mono.. it didn't seem to have much stereo separation when I was listening.

Last I checked 98.9 The Answer and 103.9 News radio are still in Mono.

Also -- 94.1 translator seems to still be translating 95.5 signal. [they should turn it to mono also] -- That will help in the near downtown area that 95.5's signal has issues due to multi-path and distance from Lancaster.

Got to give the web folks at Wilks credit at least -- the Wink 107.1 fb is still up and their not deleting the complaints but actually responding to them like humans..

Most other radio companies would just sweep the changes under the carpet...

If they are smart, they will actually do a local morning show. I would rather hear something local van Mike and Mike. That's something the fan cannot do. I am also wondering what play-by-play rights they will get? Will they go after Dial global since the fan only uses Sunday night and Monday night football, and puts the other games on 1460? The buckeyes are locked up until 2020. Maybe they can go after the Browns since Clear Channel does not own the rights to them anymore? Not to mention that the flagship in Cleveland is a CBS sports radio affiliate? I would also love to see them do a Saturday morning sports show. Something like nine to noon. Maybe wait till the fall to do that though. When do the jackets become available? The game could make a real case for them. The jackets would not have to worry about buckeye pre-or post game shows during their games. And, game is moving to 102.5 unexpectedly or inconsistently. The fan could be all buckeyes, and the game could be just about everything else.

The Clear Channel stations in Cleveland may have lost the rights to the Browns, but that doesn't extend to other Browns affiliates that Clear Channel owns. So they could stay on 105.7 in Columbus and 980 in Dayton.

While they'll technically work with talk and only screw up if you tell them to do the wrong thing, I don't know anyone in radio with enough knowledge to make most of those systems work with talk, especially not at first. I was studying computer science when I worked at a cluster with a talk radio station. I had better computer knowledge than almost anyone there and could only trick the Audio Vault into working with the talk station!

It's actually not too hard to be honest with most modern systems.. However my guess in this case it's the traffic department (who schedules ads for those not in radio) are not adjusted to timed breaks yet... (since with the music format they didn't need to ensure breaks timed out exactly).

One of the breaks I heard went like this: Ad, Ad, Ad, Show Liner, Ad, Network rejoin in progress. That tells me that someone overfilled the local spot break so the computer did what it was told to do. [And with Wilks having a skeleton staff in town.. no one has time to sit and do QA on the logs before they air].

So I haven't seen it posted on here, but will NASCAR coverage continue on 95.5 or will it move to 107.1?? Would make sense to keep it on 95.5, since it is now a sports network. Thanks.

I hope they're easier to use than they used to be. I worked for two different companies in three different locations, and none of them could get Audio Vault to work consistently with talk stations. Of course, the satellite programming providers didn't help much at the time. Missed break tones were a big problem with most of them, especially in off-peak hours. You've got to think they've gotten better because pretty much everyone's using computers to run their programs now.

One of the breaks I heard went like this: Ad, Ad, Ad, Show Liner, Ad, Network rejoin in progress. The talk stations I worked at would encounter that problem quite-a-bit when the tone was missed. However, that problem could be easily solved by putting an alignment in after those breaks. It would almost have to be one of those two issues.

I've listened to 95.5 The Game for about a whole 5 minutes. Until they get some local or regional shows, I'm not interested.

Just saw on the "Arch & Elliott" Facebook page that Archie will be starting his own show on 95.5 from 9am-Noon, M-F, on April 29. Not sure if this will be where Scott Torgeson will be also or not.

May as well be. Torg was fired from 97.1 on October 24, so his six-month non-compete will be over by the end of April.

I could see Torg on 3-6p... They won't touch Jim Rome's slot 12-3p slot.
