CBS Sports Radio On KFWB: It's Coming

What about the few NBC sports programs that air on KTLK?

http://www.ktlkam1150.com/pages/nbcsportsradio.html

CBS sports radio going on FM I do not see it unless they do all local talk like they did in Cleveland,Pittsburgh, Detroit as CBS wants local on FM something they are willing to loose money on as in may markets they paid top dollar for PBP rights and they see a local talk format being a competitor to ESPN.

Most misspelled word on the internet? Lose...

Unless they can out-bill the FM they would put it on, it won't happen. KFWB allows them to "park" the format until such time that they think they can make it work on FM.

Do you really think "lose" is the most misspelled word on the Internet? There's a two-word phrase that I see misspelled---or, to be more accurate, mis-spaced---alot more than "lose." It really bugs me alot when I see it misspelled. Can you guess what it is...or do you need alot of clues?

After seeing so many low-rated, and sometimes failed, sports formats in Los Angeles, I think people here want to listen to sports and not to people talking about sports. CBS Sports Radio may not work on AM or FM in Los Angeles.

I guessed what it is. At the risk of hijacking the thread, the one that drives me up the walls as someone very interested in meteorology, is "lightening" for "lightning."

We could fill an entire thread with examples of misspelled words. Not this thread, though---we'd have to start a new one. Here's another misspelling that drives me crazy: Nobody spells "all wrong" as "alwrong" so why do so many people spell "all right" as "alright"?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled CBS Sports Radio discussion.

A lot of misspellings and mispronounciations get used often enough that they wind up being included in dictionaries but that doesn't necessarily make them correct. Many dictionaries now say "healthy" can be used to mean "healthful," "nauseous" can be used to mean "nauseated," and "tempature" is an accepted pronounciation for "temperature." Dictionaries reflect common usage, and "common" is not always "correct." I refuse to accede to the growing trend to use phrases such as "a healthy diet" or "I feel nauseous." I will continue to say "a healthful diet" and "I feel nauseated"...and pronounce "temperature" with all four syllables. Is that all right with everyone?

I didn't know I was highjacking the thread with my airing of a pet peeve. "Lose" is misspelled as "loose" a lot on-line.

But I did add what my thoughts were regarding the subject of the thread after that.

Yes, words can sound different from their spellings. How many people actually pronounce February correctly. Most drop the "R" but it's wrong. Still most have no problem with it.

I for one am quite happy that KFWB will be airing the CBS Sports network. That'll keep another boring format off the FM band.

A lot of major US cities have FM news/talk stations and FM sports stations. What makes Los Angeles an exception? (And yes, I'm not forgetting about KLSX's 1996-2009 "frat-boy" talk with Ed Powers, Kato Kaelin, Danny Bonaduce et al---but I'm talking about now.) David Eduardo can probably make some projections as to the number of listeners KNX would gain with an FM simulcast, as well as the possibility of a CBS Sports Radio outlet picking up new listeners instead of just siphoning them from KLAC and KSPN.
