Yes. CBS Sports Radio is now carried on WCBS FM 101.1 HD3. The simulcast of WCBS 880 AM continues on the HD2.

If HD is how they're gonna do it for now, I'm surprised it's not on 101.9 HD2.

101.9 would have to be in HD first....

What are you talking about? Do you really think that they will pull the LOCAL WFAN off the FM after all that???

The whole point of buying 101.9 was to migrate WFAN 660 to it.

Give DF credit - it's a rare post without any reference to "Fox Oldies"! ;)

Enough with the HD! There aren't enough people with HD radios out there to justify moving programming that has a large potential audience in a major market to HD. Even an on-air blitz of promotion wouldn't help -- you can't get an HD receiver at RadioShack. You can't get one at Wal-Mart. Best Buy sells two models and availability is very much hit and miss. People aren't going to head to some out-of-the-way electronics specialty shop just to buy a radio to listen to one station on. They'll just stick with what's audible on the radio(s) they've owned for years. Up here in Hartford, Clear Channel is letting its HDs go to seed; one hasn't been on for at least six months, another appears only occasionally then goes down again. It's DEAD.

As soon as WFAN listeners get used to listening to the station on 101.9 FM, CBS Sports Radio will land on 660. This is exactly what CBS wants, a 50 kW blaster in Market #1 for its new sports network. :)

CBS Has already announced its plans for CBS Sports in NYC, and I expect they will do what they said. And that means they'll clear an occasional fringe or weekend show and some spots. Period.

I don't see what shelling out $40 million for an FM in NYC to run what is owned partially by a competitor will do for Cumulus or CBS.

It will be the third sports station in the market and dilute WFAN. As we have seen with WFAN/WEPN, the NY audience doesn't care about national sports talk. Sure 98.7 has local hosts too, but until noon they're birdfed.

The question is, how much is it worth to Cumulus to have it clear in NYC on an almost full market signal? Is it worth $40 million?

Apparently it is. We'll know for sure very soon.

What we DO know is that CBS will not replace local with national. That's been their policy, and that's what they've said specifically with this sports network in NYC. So CBS isn't about to diminish either of its NYC stations with syndication. Cumulus has a very different perspective on syndication, and they've proven it with WABC.

OK OK SUPER SUPER CRAZY. CBS. Sports radio is being put on Cumulus stations . How about WPLJ IF They want it on an FM. Analog?

I suppose if the FM stereo indicator on 94.7 (or 95.5) is turned off today at around 9:40 AM, we'll know for sure... ::)
