CC Fire Sale In Maine-Might It Happen In Ohio, Too?

Clear Channel is selling 17 stations in small markets in Maine for 11 million dollars...Will this signal the start of fire sales in their remaining small markets nationwide, including Ohio?

One can only hope. They have to cut the prices to the bone, that would allow people who know and love radio back in and put some innovative programming back on the air.

It pretty much has or will shortly. Sandusky, Tiffin, et al except for 103.7 have all been sold, Lima, Marion and Mansfield are on the block and I believe Chillicothe has as well. More info on the Cleveland board.

Supposedly the folks in San Antonio have went back to the board with Double O radio. They want to quickly dump their underperforming markets in Binghamton, Lima, Williamsport and Chillicothe.

WOW! so those markets might be sold here soon? any takers? give us the juicy details kentucky!

Originally I saw that Double O had approached the company last January before Dean Goodman started sniffing around

They might be, especially since they lost Findlay in the deal. However they may re-approach Federated on those clusters.

Federated wanted to simulcast K105 on 105.7 and make 98.1 a Fort Wayne station.

Double O currently consists of properties in Texas, South Carolina and Central New York. Most of the stations in NY were pieced together from other companies to create one cluster. However most of those signals are all on the bird.

He did say they werent up for sale, but they still pushed through the Blueberry deal. I think its select in the fact that they are seeing who is willing to buy at their asking price...and if the answer is no one, then once Bain takes on the debt from the small markets..they will sell them just to get rid of them.

Bain doesnt want the small markets, they dont want anything under Market #75
