CC John Hogan- comparable to Mike Brown (Owner of the Bungles) ??

Food for thought. With all of the "wonderful innovations" being done by Clear Channel recently. Would it be comparable to say that John Hogan of CC could be the Mike Brown of the Radio Industry? Thinking that he has a "Great" product in consolidating CC stations and laying off people... ??

I mean, Mike Brown thinks he is the greatest owner in the NFL world and the business decisions he has made over the past 20 years leave a bit to the imagination... (still not sold on the Bungles... one good season out of 20 years doesn't make the team good.)

Thoughts?

You have Bob Pittmann in the driver's seat largely at this point. The cuts were all about positioning Clear Channel as iHeartRadio and a contender to Pandora and Spotify which also has a distribution system of transmitters and towers all over the U.S. It could be genius and a big win for Clear Channel or a flop.

I might have made Farid Suleman the Mike Brown equivalent.

If that were the case, the FCC would come down hard on CC for instituting either a network or operating its transmitters as translators.

There's no prohibition at the FCC for CC running a network or for using it's stations to rebroadcast programming as a translator would (these simulcasts exist all over the U.S....K-Love is the biggest example.). Premium Choice is a log that is accessed at the station level, commercials and other elements are still local. Even if CC ran "The National Classic Hits Network" there's nothing to stop them.

Exactly. If that were the case, there would be a lot of rural stations not broadcasting because of the fact they are affiliated with a network!
