CC to operate 93.3 K227BH with more power and closer to downtown SA

I hope they will air the True Oldies Channel, EDM would be my second choice. But for Rhythmic Oldies I don't think that would dip into KONO's share like having the True Oldies Channel. Granted Austin has Jammin 103.1 but it is more of 80's, 90's and some 00's and 70's tunes mixed in not like the music played on 1067 Jamz and Jammin 94.1

Looking at the FCC documents it mentions a translator for KZEP. C'mon KZEP, I can pick it up really well all around San Antonio with the exception of Downtown where 102.7 bleeds all over.

True Oldies doesn't help the CC cluster.

They can change the primary station pretty much at will. That, and it's possible they mean to relay KZEP's HD2 or HD3, not the main signal.

Or CC could throw up 93.3 to simulcast a talk format, maybe WOAI or Comedy.

I guess the Christian Spanish format formerly on 93.3 will stay only on 98.9 from now on?

I thought the True Oldies format was only carried by Cumulus affiliates.

Well, we had it part time here in Austin on the Border Radio (in bankruptcy)-owned oldies station at 92.9 for a while.

92.5 and 98.9, silly.

LOL that's a cool short way of putting it actually.

IIRC-- The FCC doesn't differentiate between analog and digital parent stations. It will probably be fed by a digital subchannel of KZEP the way Jammin in Austin's parent station is KVET-FM.

One could also make the argument that Rhythmic Oldies wouldn't either. Urban AC on the other hand might help. Even an Hurban or Regional Mexican format to battle rival Univision. Comedy would work, too. Even a WOAI-AM simulcast!!!!

Oh how would I really like to pick up WOAI on FM again in crystal clear FM like I do with 99.7 for KLBJ in Austin. They get a preset reserved if they do that!

They could do Comedy real well, esp. if they have live broadcasts from Comedy clubs around town.
Maybe Cheech Marin could do mornings via Satelite ;D

K227BH has been off the air all day. Perhaps they're getting ready to move?

K227BH filed for a "license to cover" today to increase to 250 watts and change their city of license from McQueeney to San Antonio ..

Hmmm.. the FCC CDBS database says K289BN-105.7 relays WOAI. I am not however convinced the int_translator table is particularly accurate..

105.7 used to relay WOAI on KQXT HD3. Now WiLD 105.7 uses the same HD channel to power it.

And about the K227BH license, didn't that already happen in December?

Yes, it already happened! The application for a license to cover was filed in May of last year and approved in June.

I dont' know why they didn't keep WOAI on 105.7 in the first place instead of adding a second top 40 format, but the signal isn't all that great anyways.

Interesting. Radio Locator says last updated in December or was that when the construction permit was granted?

Yes, I don't know what I was looking at earlier but that's correct. The CP was issued in December and now the license to cover has been granted. Sorry for the confusion...
