All so true.

Well, at least we have theme music for this goofiness, courtesy of Hall & Oates' old AC hit "One o(n) One":

101 I wanna play that game tonight
I think I might know you too well
101 I wanna play that game tonight
I want you can't you tell

Very funny! :D

CD101 is currently airing the top 2011 songs of the history of 'CD101'. Maybe after the end of of these titles they will finally re-brand themselves. In other words, the 'CD101' branding is history after this ends in a couple of days. If not, who knows? ???

I just got a feeling that this whole "101" thing is going to end ugly in a court of law.

Like I said, WWCD won't stop using "101" until they get sued for it. This is the one prediction I made that is sure money. I would take it to the bank.

WOSU-AM is now being simulcasted full time on WOSU-FM. Here is the Columbus Dispatch story:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/conten...-fm-starts-all-news-format-today.html?sid=101

And much of NPR is still -- for all practical purposes -- being simulcast as well (WOSU and WCBE). Too much simulcasting. So it's not just the commercial big signals that play the duplication game locally at listeners' expense. And at least the commercial duplicators aren't literally broadcasting the exact same content at the same time.

As I noted on Twitter tonight, WOSV/91.7 Mansfield - originally slated to simulcast WOSU/89.7, will instead be a Classical 101 repeater.

Here is WOSU GM Tom Rieland on it, note the second comment response from him.

http://www.wosu.org/blogs/tomrieland/?p=1683

WOSV 91.7 was originally created with the assistance of OSU Mansfield to bring classical music to the community, but we are also very committed to bringing NPR news to any community we serve. We were torn by this decision in Mansfield, so we spent several days surveying a representative 25 percent of our membership from Mansfield (about 100 members) and found a clear 3 to 1 ratio of membership favoring all-classical versus all-news.

He's suggesting some in the area try WKSU (or WKRW/89.3 Wooster) or WOSU-AM 820 in their cars, though that, of course, will go away as soon as/whenever WOSU finds a buyer for it.

That isn't sitting well with upset commenters, and neither is the suggestion to buy an HD Radio to get WOSV-HD2 with the WOSU-FM simulcast.

Perhaps WOSU will put up a translator or two in Mansfield for the NPR news/talk format.

When Mayor Michael Coleman was a guest on the Ann Fisher show last night, he said "This is exciting" to be the first guest on FM 89.7. He makes
it seem as though it wasn't exciting to be a guest on her show when WOSU was on AM only!

From the Ann Fisher show:

THURSDAY
1/6 10:00 AM - Mayor Michael Coleman
Join host Ann Fisher for our first broadcast on 89.7 FM: A conversation with Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman about his plans to run for an unprecedented fourth four-year term as mayor, and the city’s budget and other issues facing Columbus in the new year.

Here is audio of the show with the Mayor:

Here is a new article from The Other Paper about Ann Fisher going on FM radio:

Part of my desires for Mr. Vaughn to get his butt sued like there's no tomorrow. And he would automatically lose. Talk about a foolish and blatant ignorance of an iron-clad contract.

I wonder if the WOSU folks will see my tweet from last night, and rebrand WOSV/91.7 Mansfield as "Classical 101 @ 91.7 FM".

:D

That one didn't go above my head but maybe they will take a dim view on rebranding 91.7 in Mansfield as "Classical 101 @ 91.7 FM". :D

BTY, WWCD 102.5 is still branding WWCD as CD101 @ 102.5 as of an hour ago. One would think three or four weeks is enough time
to rebrand WWCD 102.5 on it's new 102.5 frequency.
Will tOSU relent and let WWCD at 102.5 keep its 'CD101' branding in the name of good PR? It's not like tOSU is protecting copyright infringement
of tOSU football team which it will vigorously defend.

So I noticed that CD is now under WWCD call letters on yes.com, unlike the WCVZ they have been since the acquisition of 102.5. Also, is the processing fixed yet?

102.5/Baltimore is now officially WWCD. It was posted up here a while back.

RadioTime has also made the adjustment. (RadioTime's database powers a lot of smartphone streaming applications.)

I don't think they're ever dropping the "CD101" branding, unless tOSU forces the issue.

Yes.com is often outdated on these things, and sometimes screwed up in other ways.  E.g., last week putting in WMVX (which is in Cleveland and has a new format called "The Lake") would pull up a monitor for WVMX (which is Columbus' Mix 107.9).  At the moment they seem to have fixed the actual music monitors for these two, but they are calling WVMX "107.9 - 106.5 The Lake."

Their website is still "cd101.com" but they have changed their logo to just "CD 102.5".

Nope, nothing has changed...they've had the "102five" logo on there since before the switch, and there are still "CD101" logos and references elsewhere on the page.

Both cd101.com and cd1025.com direct to the same site.

I also tried out cd101at1025.com thinking, "nah, no way this one is going to work." Well, it does!

And indeed, it was registered at the same time as cd1025.com, touching off the initial speculation about this whole thing...which turned out to be correct.
