I also tried out cd101at1025.com thinking, "nah, no way this one is going to work." Well, it does!

And indeed, it was registered at the same time as cd1025.com, touching off the initial speculation about this whole thing...which turned out to be correct.

Oh, right, forgot about that...it was back in the summer.

A search for the original post pointing that out led me to a prediction that I made in the thread "CD101 moving?":

"Despite the fact that 106.7 has wonderfully broken the local duplication curse with its flip to GenX, I'm betting 101 will end up with a format that already exists in town."

So it turns out I was right :). Well, sort of...

Just curious - what do you have against Roger?

Hmm... how about for officiating the worst ever frequency move for a station ever? WWCD had done EVERYTHING wrong since July 1. It's an abject farce.

According to this article: http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/blog/2011/01/former-cd101-moving-studios-out-of.html

[email protected] is moving the station out of it's present downtown location and looking to move the radio station somewhere else. Apparently, this will happen before September?? They don't mention where they will move to but this article at least makes the move OFFICIAL.

I have been thinking about this for a while, and this makes me think it even more. The PPM hasnt been kind to WWCD lately, So has it crossed anyone elses mind that WWCD no longer owns it own signal, they got a nice 5 mil for the 101.1 signal. They are just leasing 102.5, which they could end at anytime. they are moving out of the studios that were part of who they were, It sure would be easy to just walk away now with a tidy little profit. Just a thought ....

It's also odd that they have yet to sign a sales agreement with the owners of the 102.5 frequency. That and given that the poor audio quality of the station, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the plug on [email protected] in the near future, before their lease runs out on their
office and studio.

Its interesting to note that the December 2, 2010 article in The Other Paper mentions that
[email protected] had an option to renew it's lease with the Worly Building. Now we known that they
will be forced to leave once their lease it up. If they do move(SEE BELOW), The Short North
and The Park Street District would also be other options for them. If they keep the Big Room for live concerts, [email protected] is going to need more space then the typical radio studio:

Long-delayed move meant to ease Shadowbox's woes
By Richard Ades
Published: Thursday, December 2, 2010 11:17 AM EST

Actually, it’s not known whether the radio station will still be in the Worly Building when Shadowbox arrives. General manager Randy Malloy said WWCD’s lease is up in mid-2011, and it’s scouting possible alternative homes such as the Arena District or the new Grandview Yard development. But Malloy said he expects the station will talk with Guyer about the possibility of joint programming.

“It will be an exciting opportunity that we can do something with those guys,” he said.

We should know in a few weeks where they will move(if ever).

In this months 614 magazine, WWCD had a ad for the station on page 92 WITH NO mention of 101
or CD101... It appears they are very slowly removing the CD101 branding for good.
Its about time. ;)

The ad has the 102.Five FM logo and Columbus skyline graphic and this text:

LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED

Local DJs, Local Music, Local Contests, Local Events

THE ALTERNATIVE STATION

The only mention of 101 that I still hear on the station is the website. They still exclusively refer to it as cd101.com although cd1025.com and cd101at1025.com both direct listeners to the website as well.

It's good to see a locally owned and operated station in this day in age. However, their sound quality really is terrible. I tuned in the other day and couldn't believe how bad it sounded. It almost reminded me of 97.1 when they played music, only much, much worse. IMHO the only station that sounds worse is WNKU 105.9, which is a Triple A formatted station that basically sounds AM on an FM frequency.

Guess I'm not the only one that thinks WNKU has poor sound quality. It sounds like they patched a low bitrate internet stream to the transmitter.

Not just giving them a run for their money, but beating them, if the last couple books are any indication. I doubt CC will even respond to this, as X has CD backed into a corner and CD knows it.
