Cedarville Univ to sell WCDR-FM and Network of stations

Perhaps...and it wouldn't surprise me to see (potentially anyway), Air 1 and EMF Broadcasting
having "turkey talk" about it today...
 
Not surprised either Kev...still I would like to see WCDR stay local. It has done a tremendous job over the past decade featuring more contemporary gospel music...a far cry from the automated "sacred sounds of peace" in the 80s which was blown away by WEEC and WFCJ.

WCDR has found its niche. and EMF already has a presence in Dayton,the Upper Miami Valley and the I-75 corridor towards Cincy...Also the Air 1 South Vienna translator in eastern Clark County switched to K-LOVE a couple (or so) years ago.

Eli Williams who hosts the contemporary soul gospel music program Urban Light Radio on WCDR may find in his heart an opporitunity to keep it local. I met Eli in 2005 when he still owned WULM-AM. Though it struggled and was forced to sell,I believe he would have an easier time running an FM with its listener base already established. Eli is a humble,soft spoken and ecumenical individual who is heavily involved in his local community. It is my hope that Rev. Williams may want to at least take a look at it and pray about a way to keep WCDR locally owned and operated. either by his Urban Light Ministries or perhaps forming a new partnership with WCDR's current supporters to aquire the station....with or without the repeater/translator network.

Why would they drop the repeater/translator network? Is this because of the cost involved in keeping repeater/translator network on the air? They have a translator station here in Columbus.
 
I wouldn't rule that out,but yes I would love to see Urban Light or another local outfit purchase the whole enchilada...if they have the monmey and support it takes.

The translators themselves are very small in size and in mostly rural areas.. I don't really see them NOT going with the WCDR license. Their Columbus Translator was great until 88.1 signed on and they had to move to 88.3 the signal is nothing compaired to what they where on 88.1.
 
CDR Network finally sold!

The sale of WCDR FM and it's network of stations (WOHC,WOHP) and Translators to EMF (KLove/Air1) is final.. The sale was approved by the FCC on 09/02/11 and final on 10/17/11 per http://www.cedarville.edu/Advancement/WCDR.aspx)

Checking from Columbus area.. 88.3 their translator appears to be dark and so does WOHC 90.1 .. I am not within reach of 90.3 WCDR to see if its off air also..

My guess is cedarville handed the keys over to EMF finally and didn't want to keep the licenses running until EMF's MSW is approved (to run the stations from rocklin)

Right now 90.3 is on with K-Love programming.

My guess yes.. But not 100% positive on that!

I am also guessing they may shead a translator or two in the dayton/springfield area... we'll see!
 
As the WCDR call letters remained property of Cedarville Univ... 90.3 has taken new call letters as a KLove station. WKCD is the calls for 90.3 Cedarville. The Portsmonth Ohio station (88.3 WOHP) took new calls WUKV.
 
Here is a update on the stations:

Here’s the information I know. From Monday – Friday last week, the following signals came on the air as K-LOVE:

90.3 FM (WKCD) in Cedarville, OH

94.1 FM in Bellefontaine, OH

98.1 FM in Sidney, OH

103.7 FM in Greenville, OH

88.3 FM (WUKV) in Portsmouth, OH – temporarily on at low power

All other acquired signals should be coming on the air next week, once we’ve completed work on them. I am not privy to the information as to whether they will be K-LOVE or Air1.
