Ch. 12 tackles the hard news, which anchor's dog is smarter?

Wow, this beats the inane Tater Lee and her "How to avoid a bad hair day" for its complete lowering of any standard pretending to be journalism.

Is the viewing public that freaking stupid that in order to sell the news, they have to resort to twaddle like this?

We are a nation of morons, fed by local "news".

I'm going to go read a book now, call me when they do the next breaking news about that thing in all our houses that could kill us at any time (but is so important that you need to sit through 20 minutes to find out that its rusty nails that poke through your rug)

Too bad Mc12 isn't a Fox affil, 'cause then it could be called
"Is your dog smarter than a 5th grader?" ;D

Time to bring back the dangers of radon gas!!! ;D

I recently watched a youtube video of a local Seattle newscast from 1979. I was amazed at how much more focused the newscast was on the actual news. No glitzy graphics covering a third of the screen. Reporters had at least 2 minutes to tell their story. No entertainment news in the 1st 15 minutes of the newscast.

Does the Mc12 "Breaking News" graphic remind anyone else of "Deal or No Deal"???

I thought just about any pooch was smarter than a local news anchor.
I think they've got the contestants mixed up!

By the way Legend, ABC15 wants to talk with you about those life-threatening tacks in your carpet! They could end all life on earth as we know it.

Full story at 10...well, really 10:20.

I expect this kind of stuff from 3TV, but damn, local news is geared towards the most stupid, ignorant folk around.

As for the tacks in the carpet, I'm saving that for a Rocky Mountain News Award, I'm gonna program it against the breaking news of the first monsoon storm this summer.

"look at this puddle, as you walk into it, it gets deeper! Its like the beach" ... some local news bimbette a few years ago....

ABC 15 is right there with 'em: Coming up next "How sleep improves your sex life"

Talk about "hard" news ;D!

This must be why my Grandma was testing things with my dog last week... She must've seen this! ;D
Although stuff like this is unimportant, etc... It does bring some sort of entertainment into a depressing news world.

This is interesting.....

Lauren's grandmother was undoubtedly raised hearing news reporters like Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Mike Wallace and a host of other "true" reporters. It is likely she doesn't realize the dumbing-down of news in general or of placing blow-dried talking heads where once real reporters sat.

Nine-tenths of what is reported today, in both national and local "news", would not have been reported just several decades ago. And the stations wouldn't have tried sex-and-sensationalist bait to get us to watch.

She gets her real news from AM radio today... ;)

She does realize the dumbing-down of news on TV. Actually we were just talking about it not too long ago. We both agree, the news on TV is more entertainment nowadays than anything else.

Anyways, I was going to say... I missed this dog story. Must have been when I saw a news story about a recently married couple where the GUY took the wife's last name!

Old news, remember when Joanie Heil married Jim Bryce, two little plastic on air personalities? They both took the name Heil-Bryce.

Back in the 80's when we were all gonna die from pesticides, radon, and radiation.
