Charles Perez New Book Details Tough Times At WABC-TV

He seems to imply EVERYONE (except for one person) had issues (by themselves or with him). No offense to Charles but I suspect he might have caused (intentionally or unintentionally) some of the issues he experienced.

As a result, I think the book is most likely not an accurate portrayal of how Channel 7 really is.

If everyone around you is trying to to hurt you or insult you, then maybe everyone around you is not the problem.

Haven't read the book yet but I'd like to see what he says.

I have mixed feelings about Mr. Perez. First, his name. From what I remember, Perez started his career with an Anglo last name and switched to Perez. He does have some Hispanic heritage but Perez is a relative's name, not his own. Many people change their names in broadcasting but switching to an Hispanic name in mid-career is not a fair move.

Also it's good that he came out. But when he was hosting his talk show, I believe he was still closeted. I'm sure most people in broadcasting knew he was gay even though he never refered to it on the air in the early part of his career. Again, some people come out in mid-career but his coming out seemed a bit calculated.

Perez is his mother's maiden name. Under Latin naming conventions, children use both of their parent's surnames. The mother's maiden name goes before the father's surname.
