Z93 JAMZ with a popular syndicated morning show, no night jock nor weekend DJ mix shows is #2 with an 8.5.
99.3 THE BOX with a newer syndicated morning show, no midday jock, not fit for the format syndicated night show, no weekend jocks nor DJ mix shows and little to no public presence is ranked #16 at a 0.9. (I’ve always rooted for them).
What in the heck going on here???? The Charleston Radio Group has STAR 99.7 sounding like a major market Urban AC but sister 99.3 The Box sounds crazy. One minute its hardcore Hip-Hop then a gold R&B song and Tino Cochino’s syndicated show does not fit an Urban station in the South. They also have a specialty mexican format show on Thursdays and Saturdays. The days of B92 then 92.5 The Box were way better with a big market sound! Since then it's clear operations and leadership have changed.
Meanwhile, Cumulus seems to not be invested in Z93 since they are the heritage and bigger signal Hip-Hop station that can win by default. The midday and afternoon jocks have been with the station forever and IMO have outgrown the format.
