Today is Charley Lake's first day as PD of WMGK 102.9 FM. Do you expect any changes on WMGK's classic rock format, the play list and the DJ's on the station or will the PD keep it the way it is?

As boring and tired as they are, he's probably already dozed off. Changes? Why kick a sleeping dog.

Good point.

It would be nice to hear a different song by Aerosmith besides "Walk This Way", "Sweet Emotion", and "Dream On'' once in a while.

I don't mind the classic rock format. Just mix it up once in a while.

one thing MGK actually does right (and playing Jethro Tull), is the get the led out, not they need the 20 song music marathons.

I said it before and I'll say it again, "Get the Led out" and (insert # here) song marathons belong on sub-100 market stations -- not market #6!!

no, get the led out and 20 song music marathons is a good thinG, and i dont know WHY philadelphia is market #6

the only thing there thats worth a shit is MMR and YSP, Trentons got PST and NJ1015, NYC has Q-104&K-rock

allentown with Z95&999The Hawk, reading has Frank & Y-102...all of those are better than philadelphia!

as i said MMR and YSP is all philly has left (as far as rock goes at least)

WMGK faces the hundle every oldies station faces: how deep should the playlist be? Do you try to give the listener more favorites or do you play it safe and avoid possible "tune-out" cuts. I have always favored the broad playlist approach. However, ratings have proved me wrong time and time again.

Since it is the consultant who chooses the playlist and not the PD, don't expect much change in the music mix at 'MGK. The PD can alter the overall sound and imaging, but the music comes from someone whose research may be suspect.
