O

Omnibus

Guest
The Boston Globe reported in today's paper that governor elect Charlie Baker has ' tapped developers, insurance companies, major utilities and local universities to pay for his " inaugural bash".

Baker has raised:
$78,000 from two political action committees
32 individuals
43 corporations

Among the top donors giving $25,000 each are: Blue Cross Blue Shield; MassMutual Insurance; Hanover Insurance; Northeast Utililties; Boston University and Braitt Builders a Marshfield construction company.

Verizon donated $20,000 and 12 corporations gave $10,000 each including Diesel Direct, Astellas Pharma, Staples, and Atlantic Charter Insurance Co.

Baker has invited his biggest donors to a candlelight dinner at Alden Castle in Brookline on January 7 the night before the inaugural.

Other major donors:

Roger Marino - cofounder of EMC Corp. $25,000.
Kevin Rollins - former chief executive of Dell and his wife, Debra - $25,000.
Thomas DeSimone, executive vice president of WS Development - $25,000.
Wayne Capolupo, chief executive of SPS New England

Steve DeFillippo, chief executive of Davio's Restaurant - $10,000.
John Brock, chief executive of Coca-Cola - $10,000.
John McDonnell, managing director of Tito's Handmade Vodka - $10,000.
Seth Klarman, chief executive of the Baupost Group - $10,000.

Two Political Action Committees that donated to the inaugraul bash:
State Police Association of Massachusetts - $25,000.
Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants - $2,500.

Baker also sold at least 3000 tickets at $50.00 each to his " Let's Be Great, Massachusetts" for the bash at the Boston Convention Center on January 8.

This information is based on the Boston Globe article written by Michael Levenson - Globe Staff.

Question: Will Howie Carr take on how Charlie Baker has already sold his soul as every other Pol of both parties have done for years. Looks like more of the same for the next 4 years.

How about if he spent money from taxpayers? No, wait, he's not a Democrat.

Verizon--hey, my landline...I'm fine with that. How ah ya Chahlie...how's the family, did ya remember the tiiiiime we had with Ron Kaufman and Billy Weld? When Billy
said Ron had been "nursing an amber colored liquid"?

It's too bad the new governor couldn't have had taxpayers pay for inaugural bashes like a good Democrat would have. We can't have any Republicans in this state. No, no, no, we have to be 99.999999999 per cent Democrat.
That's balanced!

---
>>It was there that William Weld put the words “amber-colored liquid” into the political lexicon of Massachusetts.
--Boston Globe, A House With History, July 3, 2014

"Er ah er er it cahn't get any worse"--Ted Kennedy

Good Lord we actually have 2 or 3 Republican office holders in this state. This is the end...
Wait, you mean Martha Coakley didn't win? she was a sure thing! We had it in the bag and
this RINO from Swampscott beat her? Mother o' Gawd!

Racoon- It is a matter of selling your soul. All pols do it. Was hoping Charlie Baker would be different. Well, at least we don't see Ron Kaufman on the appointment/staff list .... yet. Some hope
Happy New Year

Ha, same to you, just funnin' ya.
So..do Eagan and Braude continue the Ask the Governor segment even though come next Thu the governor won't be a Democrat? :) (Noon time swearing in 1/8)

I'm not Scott Brown and I don't approve this message.

I'm not Deval Patrick and I don't approve this message.
Hope, "Ask, the Governor" continues with Charlie. He can handle it.
Speaking of which, think I heard Jay Severin...aka, James Severino, call-in to a post patriots sports show. Severin has fallen into a blessed obscurity.
Remember, it was Jay Severin, the bigot, who got censored .... at least once... by Greater Media while at WTKK for refering to E&B's "Ask, the Governor" as "AXE, the Governor.

Jay, how can we miss you if you won't go away. One of the real hater Neanderthals of talk radio. He also lied about his degrees from BU as well. Think he said he had a Ph.D. Yeah, Piled Higher and Deeper.

As to Howie. He seems a lot more relaxed on his new set-up and easier to listen to. Doug Goudie helps too.

Take on what?

What's there to "take on"? He did nothing wrong, nothing illegal, nothing unethical....

Trying to make something out of nothing?

Agreed about Howie and his new setup. Howie actually did have Deval on once and it was actually on an April Fool's Day (the real Deval, not an
impersonator). He had Kerry on once, Menino too. Jerry W had a memorable phone call from Ted Kennedy around the time of the ownership
controversy (Herald/Ch 25).

btw I didn't hear all of it but youtube has Theo Bikel on Jerry's show the night of the JFK assassination. Youtube also
has a recording of WTIC on 11/22/63 in the daytime with a gentle talk show, then news comes of the shooting in Dallas. Details come out
little by little and the shock spreads. I was a couple months shy of turning 2 so wasn't aware of these sort of news events...

As for Jay never quite into him but two memories;one is when it looked like Howie was headed to
WTKK and he and Graham referred to their upcoming colleague:"can we say, drive my Carr?"
Then as he started his national talk show, which WTKK carried. People felt Jay was hiding his true name and the fact he was married and had a daughter--no no, he made himself out to be a swinging single. An early caller asked how Jay's wife and daughter were, perhaps to evoke a response.
An arrogant Jay: "I don't know what you're talking about!"

Howie a bit more open about his personal life; daughter Carolyn answered phones yesterday and he told of Tina racking up huge texting bills.

As long as it isn't on the taxpayers' dime, does it matter how big the Governor's inaugural is? I just don't see it as an issue.

Believe Willard Romney had a cash " Milk Bar" at his inaugural. Perhaps, he knew Ron Kaufman was in the room..... ;-)

Howie used to have a sound clip of Weld at his inaugural ball inviting the partiers to rock on with (the blues-rock artist who was there) James Montgomery. Weld sounded like
he'd had some amber colored liquid...
As for Romney, he said when he was feeling really daring he'd drink some Vanilla Coke.

.........Was hoping Charlie Baker would be different..........

2015 is less than a day old, and it looks like we may already have a winner of the

"Most Transparently Disengenuous Line of the Year" award.

Regards,
TSB
