CHARLIE SHEEN WINNING: HIS CAMP PROMISES NEW TV DEAL BY WEEKS END

They say he has a new mid-season show and will announce it soon.

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsideth...ew-comedy-series-we-dont-hold-our-breath.html

What do you think the show will be titled and on which network?
here's some.......

Days Of Our Lives - a reality show on BRAVO
One Man, Two Women - a comedy on Comedy Central
Take This Job And Shove It - a comedy on Spike TV
Searching For A Psych - a drama on the CW

I 'use' to have great respect for Charlie Sheen as an actor. However because of his antics I'm so sick of hearing about the guy I wish he would just go away.

He's figured out that going for the lowest common denominator is now profitable. The media lap it up. Lowbrow, drug-addled entertainment for the unintelligent is IN again. And Charlie Sheen is profiting from it handsomely. Why take the high road when so many will pay so much for you to act crazy and ramble on like a mentally ill homeless guy?

I honestly don't blame him - he's just following the money. But what is says about the direction of our society is very disturbing.

This seems much more like a media or artist management stunt than a bonafide possibility. I really doubt there would be any serious interest at putting Charlie back on the air with his record of instability.

Of course I could be wrong. There are dozens of bottom-feeding cable channels whose offerings are right up Charlie's alley and whose demographics are probably well-suited for whatever he is selling these days. As for the major networks and/or production companies.....no.....with the possible exception of Fox who apparently has no set of standards.

Why did you have respect for Charlie as an actor? He's a perfectly decent comic actor, and can to a servicable job with dramtic roles - same with brother Emelio Estevez. But in terms of talent (IMO), the apples fell far from the tree in this case. Father Martin Sheen (Ramon Estevez) is a far more versatile actor that either of his sons. Check out Apocalypse Now, The West Wing - or even the guest star roles that Martin did on Quinn Martin cop shows in the 70s.

Emelio was smart, and has gotten into producing and directing, but I doubt Charlie has the discipline or desire to do anyting different. What the heck - it's his choice, and I doubt he needs the money.

I'm just glad I didn't get into 2 1/2 Men. Because if I had, right now I'd feel like they
threw me a turd and I ate it. ;D To me the whole series is now tarnished.

Too bad you feel that way because there are a ton of exceedingly funny segments over the course of 7 seasons (yes, I know there was an abbreviated season 8 but the laughter had died).

And unlike All In The Family, Cosby or Home Improvement where one character basically carried the comedy, Two And A Half Men had (has) a stellar cast from top to bottom. Charlie Sheen was simply one cast member and played straight man as often as he played the comedian. This is the tragedy of Charlie's antics.....that the show will now fail and that very talented cast will go their separate ways. And that is truly a shame.

One could make a case that "All in the Family" had become dependent on Caroll O'Connor toward the end......but the early years were a very different matter, with plenty of laughs spread around among Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner, Sally Struthers, and of course Isabel Sanford and Sherman Helmsley as the next door "Jeffersons", with Betty Garrett and Vincent Gardenia as neighbors "Frank & Irene Lorenzo".

Jean, Rob and Sally fed lines to Archie. The "comedy" was in his reaction.

I'm at my computer desk smiling because I realize this is your EDITED statement. :D

...which would frequently be rebutted in turn by Jean or Rob with a punchline of their own...

I think you could say the same for "Two And A Half Men." It all revolves around Charlie, which is why it won't work without him.

It's all a matter of opinion but it's a shame to see such talents like Jon Cryer and Conchata Ferrell (who should've been famous long before this) reduced to bathroom jokes.

And the kid is worthless as an actor, he's as bad as Harold was on "Hazel"

I think 2 1/2 revolves around the Charlie character but not necessarily Sheen. Whether the new guy will work out, I doubt. I haven't heard many positive things about his acting and haven't personally witnessed any. But maybe the suits will turn the show into teen fare and it won't matter.

I certainly agree with you on this. I have always said Jon Cryer was the heart of the comedy but the bit players are important too.

I disagree with this. Although at the beginning he wasn't much I think he got rolling as he aged a bit and became more important to the show. The concept certainly wouldn't have worked without a kid of some sort and I guess we could argue all day about who would have been better in that part.

Yeah, I thought that's what S*** My dad says was going to be like. Too bad that failed.
