Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill Radio Ratings: February 2024

Covering the survey period from Thu. 2/1/2024 thru Wed. 2/28/2024, age 6+ overall:
Alternate view: https://ratings.****************/content/arb093
Alternate view: https://www.urbaninsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/CHARLOTTE-GASTONIA-ROCK-HILL.htm

Top 5+ demo rankings analysis from Research Director, Inc./XTrends will be available on Thu. 3/21/2024.

Are the dismal ratings for both CHRs indicators that the young demo they target just aren’t listening to terrestrial radio? Mix 107.9 and K ain’t looking good, either.

It's not the younger demo. Both CHRs perform poorly with their target age group. I think it has more to do with poor programming and weak jocks more than anything else. Charlotte has also never really been a strong market for CHR. Our urban and country stations are much stronger, and usually stay near the top of the ratings. CHR has usually been middle of the pack.

I did notice that Mediabase now has Trevor Morini listed as WHQC's PD. It was AJ (who is still listed as WLKO's PD). Not sure when that changed.

This might be one of those weird survey wobbles like we've seen before. WFNZ ahead of the two CHR's and a hot A/C? Also K-104.7 usually gets a bit more of a Christmas Music boost after the holidays. Could it be the jockless Lake got it this year? Are people actually leaving WBT for (gasp!) WFAE? Nah, things will be back to normal next month...I think.

WKQC struggled last year, but got its usual Christmas boost. I think things just went back to how they were before the holidays.

It isn’t unimaginable for ‘FNZ to be ahead of two CHR’s right now. With all of CHR’s problems at the moment, it isn’t a good time to have two stations splitting the audience. If Charlotte just had one CHR, it would be performing much better than what we’re seeing with the split audience between 95.1 and 96.1.

25-54: 1. WPEG 2. WSOC 3. WEND 4T. WOSF 4T. WLKO 8. WKQC

18-34: 1. WKKT 2. WEND 3T. WSOC 3T. WKQC 5. WBAV 6T. WPEG 6T. WLKO 9T. WOSF

18-49: 1. WEND 2. WSOC 3. WOSF 4T. WKKT 4T. WLKO 6. WKQC 7T. WBAV 7T. WPEG
Notice in the 6+ WLNK is just barely ahead of the CHR's. WBT is missing in the 25-54 and 18-49 as is WFAE. Just an observation.

WLNK is the heritage AC, but they’ve never consistently won. They’ve always been a bottom feeder. Nothing new.

WBT and WFAE skew heavily 65+ like all talk stations.
