Erin Community Radio has been denied a rebroadcaster in Orangeville, Ontario at 89.1 with 50 watts (average and maximum ERP). The new station would have simulcasted programming from CHES 88.1 in Erin.
The CRTC stated that the licensee has not provided compelling evidence that the proposed transmitter would contribute to improving CHES’s financial viability and that Erin Radio’s proposal does not constitute an optimal use of the frequency 89.1 MHz, and would not represent an appropriate use of radio spectrum.
