CHR RADIO BUTCHERING (SEAN PAUL)-We Be Burnin

This edited version that CHR radio plays is a completely different song, I really hate the way stations play the edited version. Compare the two versions, they arent any of the same words. This bothers me alot, because the Original version doesnt have any Cursing, no F-bombs or nothing, they simply re-recorded the song, because it has Marijuana references, STUPID>>>> I can see the Hot ac stations needing this version, but cant the CHR, and Rhythmics play the original? I hear Drug references in alot of songs, that dont get edited.

Hey dawg,

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but CHR has never been big on artistic integrity, may I suggest triple A?

Yeah, but their are so much more Graphic lyrics that slide on by, NO PROBLEM, but they have Sean Paul completely re write a different song, with the same beat and melody. A song without any swearing, or sexual lyrics. They even cut out the part where he says, WE DONT NEED NO SPEED,,, Which is an anti drug msg, for a much more harmful drug, Yet no one ever complain about Tom Pettys LAST DANCE WITH MARRY JANE back in 1993????? I think radio edits more now than what they used to. Alternative rock stations used to play completely unedited tracks back in the 90s, complete with f-bombs and all, at least WRZX Indianapolis did.

Not because it's offensive

Drug references don't get edited out because they're offensive, they get edited out because few people over the age of 15 get excited over hearing that kind of radio. Do you know any women 25-34 who hit the pipe? I sure don't, which is why I wouldn't dwell on those lyrics if I were programming to them. Women want to hear lyrics about relationships, not drugs.

I've never heard "joint" edited out of that song, even on CHR or Hot AC.

Most stations played the radio edit which changed "roll another joint" to "hit another joint".

I heard alot of stations that didnt edit out the Doin crystal meth part.

Firstly, I can't see any HOT AC stations playing this Sean Paul song.
Aren't there more pressing things to get upset about like diary placement, return rate, when the heck is the people meter going to be used in someplace other than Houston and Philly?

I feel ya on the 'why does Sean Paul's drug lyrics get edited but not other songs' tip but damn, most people can't even understand what the crap Sean Paul is saying anyway. The "Recognize It" version was cut one on the CD Pro and alot of stations are playing it, so be it.
______________

I either hear "Let's hit another joint", or let's roll another jiiiiii(a long I sound) or let's roll another nouch (I doubt that's a word, but that's what it sounds like to me).

Ah, must be custom edits. The last one sounds like they just reversed the word.

I thought "hit another joint" was a clever way to make it a double entendre, as it could just mean going to another bar. I guess a few stations thought even that was too risky.

There are CHR/POP stations that edited Ludacris out of "Oh" by Ciara and are playing an edit of the Beyonce song without Slim Thug.

These CHR/POP stations skew a bit older and from what I'm told get complaints of playing thug music when they play "Shake Ya Tailfeather" by Nelly.
______________

Some Rhythmics still play the original.

I've heard some stations cutting out a lot of the drug references in "Stay Fly". Seems kinda stupid to me.
