Christmas Music In The Hudson Valley and Albany - 2023

As you know, WTSS in Buffalo, NY is the first station to go all Christmas as of yesterday. But over in Chicago, WLIT’s “Lite-FM” at 93.9 went all-Christmas earlier today. What’s going to happen in the Hudson Valley and in Albany?

Yesterday, when we rode home, WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3 (not the Chicago and New York versions) did a promo that they’re going to go all-Christmas starting tomorrow morning. The other stations, WRNQ’s “Q92” also goes all-Christmas as of next week, follow by WTRY’s “98.3 TRY” and WYJB’s “B 95.5” also going all-Christmas as well, and down in New York City, WLTW’s “Lite-FM” at 106.7 will go all-Christmas as of mid-November.

By December, the rest of the stations will go all-Christmas, including WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” as of mid December, and then WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” will go all-Christmas as of December 24th Christmas Eve and it will end on December 25th Christmas Night, and of course, WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5” will go all-Christmas as of Christmas Eve including 48-hours of the Jim Brickman Show featuring all-Christmas music.

This is all I got for the schedule. We’ll have more on stations going all-Christmas until further notice.

I’m listening to WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3 where they are doing a live broadcast at Deising’s Bakery in Kingston, NY, and I heard the announcement that the station is going all-Christmas at 9AM today. I can’t wait to hear it.

Just to give you an update as of this morning, WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3 went all-Christmas. And so does the following including WTRY’s “98.3 TRY” and WYJB’s “B 95.5” both went all-Christmas, and then, WRNQ’s “Q92” went all Christmas as of 5PM which was 20 minutes ago, and that was 8 hours after “Lite-FM” went all-Christmas. And now, the race is on. Both WKXP and WRNQ are going head-to-head with the Christmas music war.

And I forgot one station that I might add, out of all of the four stations in the Hudson Valley and Albany went all-Christmas, WPBZ’s “The Breeze” at 103.9 went all-Christmas back on Friday which was the same day that all of the stations went all-Christmas. Now we got all 6 stations went all-Christmas in one day.

Back on Friday, WHUD went all-Christmas as of 10AM. The last song on a regular format was “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga, and the first song ever played was “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” by Andy Williams.

And down in New York City, WLTW’s “Lite-FM” at 106.7 went all-Christmas as of 5PM which was 7 hours after WHUD went all-Christmas. And the first song was, you guessed it, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” by Andy Williams.

Now that all of the stations went all-Christmas as of last month, and guess what? WROW’s “Magic 100.5” (formerly “Magic 590”) went all-Christmas as of midnight and it will continue for the next 4 days until Monday night at 11:59PM which is Christmas Day.

And finally, WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” is going all-Christmas for two consecutive days starting this Sunday afternoon Christmas Eve starting at high noon and continue until Monday night Christmas Day at 11:59PM, and that completes all of the entire stations going all-Christmas. All stations will return to its regular format this Tuesday.

And I forgot one station that I might add, WBPM went all-Christmas as of 8PM last night, right after the station kicked off with the “Celebration of the Season” with Randy Turner (or shall I call it Randy Turnip or the Ram Man himself) with he plays nothing but Christmas novelty songs. I do have an aircheck from back in 2010 in my collection. It will continue right up until Christmas Day at 11:59PM right after a special encore presentation of “Celebration of the Season”. Since the “Celebration of the Season” is 5 hours, but I prefer the 4-hour version a lot better than the 5-hour one.

I believe that at 12:02 P.M. this afternoon, 100.7 WHUD went back to its best music variety of today's hits and yesterday's favorties, and started off with the song: "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith.
