It looks like Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel has started their Christmas movies.
They start earlier every year.

Yes, unfortunately they have; I would think they could at least wait until a day or so after Thanksgiving and not overshadow that holiday.

Missing my Matlock and Diagnosis Murder and Columbo on the Hallmark M&M channel! :(

I've read that Hallmark makes a ton of money with their Christmas programming.
In today's political climate, perhaps people are watching just to make themselves feel less anxious about everything.

Lifetime started certain nights with Christmas movies at the beginning of the month. It's kind of ridiculous but it's still better than their usual lineup of victim of the week movies.

They also do "Christmas In July" for those who apparently can't stand to wait.

Why not spin off this ho-ho-ho crap? New channel. 'Hallmark Holiday'. All Xmas, all the time, 24/7, 365. Even throw in some 2nd-tier kiddie cartoon/live-action specials here and there too if they can get the rights.

Three problems.

1. Getting additional cable system clearances.
2. Getting cable systems to pay additional carriage fees. Very hard. Maybe impossible now.
2. The existing viewer base expects Christmas movies and shows. It's part of the Hallmark lifestyle focus.

Think of it this way: We're talking about a cable channel branded by a greeting card company. Here are the Top 5 greeting card holidays:

1: Christmas
2: Valentines Day
3: Mother's Day
4: Father's Day
5: Easter

After Father's Day in June, you really have 6 months of nothing until Christmas. After Christmas, time to roll out the Valentine's specials.

They could just rebrand Hallmark Channel as the Holiday channel right now and nobody would notice.

The tagline could be, "Get your sappy cheaply badly acted Holliday movies all in one place!"

The marathon of Christmas movies on Hallmark makes more sense. Lifetime running all Christmas movies it weird to me considering how most of their movies are the rest of the year. But now that they're running King of Queens reruns I might actually watch that.

Despite ads saying Lifetime will be airing Christmas movies 24/7 it will be airing 8AM-4:02AM Monday-Friday, 11AM-4:02AM Saturdays, and 10AM-4:02AM Sundays. The rest of time will be infomercials and religious programming as normal.

At the end of the Christmas season I would like to see the ratings on Lifetime vs. Hallmark/Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.

One year we had two all Christmas radio stations in Hartford - Lite 100.5 WRCH, which always flips, and the now defunct Oldies 102.9 DRC-FM. While it was nice having two options for all Christmas music, Lite 100.5 won the Christmas battle in the Hartford ratings.

It seems so, but is it every a good idea to start this earlier, I mean by the time Christmas season will be here, people could be sick of them, hate to think what will happen if one of these years they started in September.

Keeping bad Canadian actors employed since 1998.

They shoot in Canada because it's cheaper. While they probably hire Canadian actors as extras, they quite often bring in US celebrities for their movies.

However the Hallmark movie Christmas At Graceland was shot in Memphis. Or at least the exteriors were shot there.

"Christmas at Dollywood" with Danica MaCellar and a guest appearance by Dolly is being filmed, at least in part at the actual Dollywood

Hallmark Channel itself rolled the hohoho crap out this weekend. For God's sakes can we get through HALLOWEEN first? In fact, I don't go into ho-ho-ho mode in our house until after Santa makes his Macy's parade arrival on Thanksgiving morning...

And I know three women in my family who already had their DVrs set to record all the movies. (Keyword: Women)
