Christmas Wins 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 in Major Markets

The Research Director has looked at the Holiday 2025-26 ratings. In nine of the top ten markets, the Christmas station was #1 in all the important demographics. Here's the list...

1. WLTW New York ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

2. KOST Los Angeles ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

3. WLIT Chicago ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

4. KDGE Dallas ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

5. KODA Houston ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

6. KOIT San Francisco ... Bonneville ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

8. WASH Washington ... iHeart ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

9. WBEB Philadelphia ... Audacy ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

10. WMJX Boston ... Audacy ... #1 18-34, #1 18-49, #1 25-54

Ahh, but what about Market #7, Atlanta? Atlanta and Miami are a couple of rare markets that don't usually have a secular Christmas music station, along with Dayton and Greenville-Spartanburg. This year, Atlanta did have a station give it a try, Rhythmic AC WSTR, owned by Audacy. WSTR has done it a few times in recent years but not consistently.

7. WSTR Atlanta ... Audacy ... #1 18-34, #2 18-49, #3 tie 25-54

Research Director doesn't do breakdowns for Orlando, but WMGF Magic 107.7 had a fantastic 6+ showing with a 21 share

Wow. So 1 out of every 5 radio listeners were tuned to Christmas music. I don't know if this explains it, but Orlando does have alot of families visiting the theme parks during the holidays.

There were some big totals for several top 50 markets. You mentioned one of the biggest...

--WMGF Magic 107.7 Orlando scored a 21.

--WMAG Mix 99.5 Greensboro--Winston-Salem did even a fraction better.

Several stations were just under a 20.

--WRCH Lite 100.5 Hartford

--WEAT Sunny 107.9 West Palm Beach.

--WMJI Majic 105.7 Cleveland was just a hair below a 20. It shares Christmas music in its market with WDOK Star 102, which was just under a 10. That means 3 in 10 listeners in Cleveland were tuning in Christmas music.

Another interesting rating was WRNW B97.3 Milwaukee. It switched from Sports to AC just a few months ago. And for its first Holiday rating, it scored double digits. (The previous Christmas station in Milwaukee was bought by EMF to become a K-Love affiliate.)
