I woke up this sunday morning to find my internet radio station rebroadcasting over 1540 KGBC. They are Long time friends going back to the days Vandy Anderson and I were there in 1997, Now i am dumping a bunck up 60's 70's and 80's in a computer for the new format to start on monday. Just what i had in mind for sunday. I think there studio and all are moving back to galveston monday now that the roof has been put back on the old building . Good to see that little am up at full power again.
Later man, Dade

They have been playing that music from there office in Houston for a couple of Months. The hurricane did some serious damage to that station. That is there old format they had until 1999. Looks like it is going back to galveston to become a local station again from what i am hearing. Have a good one man.

I'd love to see that. Galveston County needs its own local AM station for news, weather, sports, etc. Obviously we're close enough to Houston that those are truly local channels, but our county needs a local radio station.

I came across it early this morning shortly after 7, and I thought "this couldn't be KGBC!" How amazing is this? I've kept the dial on 1540 all day and heard every thing from Del Shannon and The McCoys to Posion and Jackyl. It's like Jack....on steroids.

While I'm sure it's only a stunt, it's certainly good to see the Island's gem is something it hasn't been in nearly two decades. Relevant. Nice job, Dade. It's worth the minor static in far north Houston just to hear some of these songs again that haven't been played in Houston since the days of KLDE...and to a lesser extent KLOL.

I'm still floored over Jackyl's - Down on Me. I haven't heard that song spun locally since KKZR was still on the air.

Yes that is a stunt, That is my ipod hooked to the transmitter. I am going to put the real automation in tonight. People could not belive the crap i was playing like baby got back and going into kansas and the ozzy.
What the hell , radio should be fun. Take care you guys.

KGBC is quite dominant right now here on the League City-Friendswood line. Just went from "D'yer Maker" to "Thank You" by ZZ Top. There's hardly any skywave interference. Is it running just 250 watts? If so, that's a nice reach up at that end of the dial. Does its pattern favor our direction? Radio Locator has no pattern info.

you know guys, i did not think this would be a big deal. I am playing that music from my house right now in Houston and going through all that music. They just dumped it in a computer. Pretty wild but no one cares yet. Yes it is on low power. The owners will be glad you can hear it. That station will really be playing 60's 70's and 80's oldies, I guess they are going to try it out for a wile. I was asked to help get this stuff together for them. But there is all kinds of wild stuff mixed up in the computer. The audio really needs to be tweaked to. They will have a studio in glaveston county soon. Take care all, and yes from what i see it will be one hell of a mix of music

Hi, Dade! You know of any stations that would like to play MY ipod? It has a pretty eclectic (odd) mix on it, too. I don't get to listen to my ipod much, so it gets lonely. Maybe some of the talent on yours would rub off on mine...

How about Conway Twitty to Slayer to Drive By Truckers to KISS to King Crimson? That would be a heck of a mix from my ipod! I will say this for Jack, they do play some rock that no one else will, but way too much eighties pop for my tastes. Even more than the Point it seems. Its just amazing in a city this size we can't get a station that plays Alice In Chains AND Alice Cooper, except of course for KACC! Bill and Mark keep it up!! ...Although I did hear your station play "Turning Japanese" yesterday, that was hilarious!

I picked up 1540 this afternoon in Woodland Heights, in the area of I-10/I-45. Lots of static, but it was fun to hear "Radar Love" on AM again.

Listened to it on the way into work this morning & it sounded pretty good over here in the Brazosport area. Dang good mix (at least for me)

Heard it this afternoon here in Corpus. Pretty far down, but listenable. Seems much louder than before.

Great mix, BTW.

Wonder if they could find the guy that was doing the Jimmy Buffett music on Friday nights back in the late 90's

Listening to KGBC now on the way home frpm work. Good stuff man! I hear Mark Landis doing the liners. Love it

If they would only boost the signal at night, I might just give up on FM altogether. I am definately liking what I'm hearing when I listen on the way to work every morning. Evening drive home is K-Hits & Kevin.
