Las Vegas Classic Calls Returning to the 94.9 signal of Highway Rock

94.9 KHRQ, licensed to Baker, CA has requested the vintage "KNAC" call letters, effective August 29th. As "Highway Rock" they simulcast with 96.9 KHDR Barstow and are also heard on the HD3 of 99.7 KHYZ Mountain Pass, targeting Las Vegas. The format is a mix of "active rock" with a lot of the 80s gold from the former KNAC 105.5 Long Beach.

This appears to be a rebranding of the format launched six months ago. The PD is “Gonzo Greg” Spillane, who has past experience at the original "Pure Rock" KNAC before it was sold and became Spanish-language KBUE.

Apparently he convinced upper management to take on the calls of his former station.
