CLASSIC TV STARS WHO EMBARRASSED THEMSELVES AND THEIR SHOW WITH SCANDAL

Spill the beans (as you know them). Did the star and show "recover"? Does Charlie Sheen have
any patriots from the past?

The only person that comes to mind is Eddie Fisher. However I think his TV show ended before he divorced Debbie Reynolds and married Liz Taylor.

Fisher's career crashed and burned after his divorce from Reynolds; and then he get's dumped by Tayor for Richard Burton. Talk about payback!

How about televangelist Jim Bakker and the Jessica Hahn thing which brought down the PTL Network like a house of cards?.

That would fit, although Bakker being a televangelist puts him in a different league in a manner of speaking.

From what I could remember, the case of Brett Butler and Grace Under Fire - neither of which recovered from the personal problems that overtook her during its run.

Didn't Max James from the TV show ALF somehow found himself involved with the homosexual "bear" community such as being taped having sex with fat hairy guys smoking cigars in Indianapolis? Both the National Enquirer and The Globe had made "news" about reporting this many years back as I seem to recal..

What about William Talman (Hamilton Burger) getting busted at a pot party?

One has to wonder why he was at a pot party to begin with, considering that he died of lung cancer in 1968 and was looking for something to ease his pain. One of his last roles before his death was appearing in a PSA for the Cancer Society.

Perry Mason ended its first run in 1966 so Talman would not have had much effect, if any, on the show. As for personal embarrassment.....I was living in California then so.......no. ;D

...the name of the actor on ALF was Max Wright. No such incident is mentioned in Wright's Wikipedia or IMDb listings...

Rumor has it that it was a naked pot party

Oh, then it must have been in CA's Marin County and located near a hot tub.

Still no embarrassment. ;D

For the record, whatever happened to Grace Under Fire? Is it still being shown in syndication by any chance?

Thanks for the correction BUT here is a link to a story about Max and his "gay videos" including the National Enquier. Be warned..it is NOT pretty.

http://washedupcelebrities.blogspot.com/2007/05/max-wright.html

As far as not being on Wikipedia..i can see that as many fans only want the "good and nice" to be mentioned and nothing bad so they "delete" the latter.

I don't know if you would consider this a "classic show" but I am surprised no one has mentioned Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman.

Giving Reubens a children's show as Pee Wee Herman was an embarrassment waiting to happen. The Pee Wee Herman I knew from the Late Night with David Letterman Show featured adult, and sometimes downright raunchy, humor.

Valerie Harper's fight with the producers of Valerie/The Hogan Family

That hardly constitutes a scandal. Valerie didn't use drugs or carous; she simply wanted to renogiate her contract.

Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet, his show was taken off PBS after child molestation accusations surfaced

Forgot about him! He was THE hot TV chef in the years just before Emeril, Rachael Ray, etc. Was he ever convicted on those charges?
